absolutely. can you imagine, she's all excited because she loves Macs and got to be in a commercial telling everyone so, and then comes on here, the mac "community," and reads this vitriol? ouch.

also, all this silliness will send apple the wrong signal. personally, i think she's cute, and her story is hilarious--the way she tells it. that "huh" face is so funny. this is the best "swtich" ad yet.

i hope apple hangs onto her ad.

yeah i have to agree with the last two posters... (sorry i mostly lurk here)...

the other switch ads make me cringe a bit, they seem too processed/fake for some reason, the people in them seem way too self aware that they're doing an ad.

these latest 4 seem much more natural, and i think ellen is the best so far... it's not overtly anti-windows or pro-mac so it seems more natural, and her little "hurm" and delayed bummer remarks are quite amusing.

you're a hip chick in my book ellen.

I'm imagining Erol Morris, the director of these spots had a difficult or, probably, a hilarious time editing that spot. Imagine the outtakes...

*Ready....and ACTION!*

Ellen: ............

*Ellen? Ellen?*

E: What?

*You can talk now--tell us your story*

E: BeepBeepBeepBeep.

*We're not there yet Ellen*

E: Oh.

Aside *Keep rolling. Let's try again....ACTION"

E: See, I was like, like, ya know...writing, yeah, that's it on my, uh, computer..................beepbeepbeepbeep

*Sigh*

As somewhat ruthless as we're being, this is nothing compared to what the mainstream computer press will heave. Dvorak'll say this ad typifies what's wrong with America, education, and babysitters. That and lack of a floppy drive.

For the record, I think she's cute and funny and a very good spokesperson. She seems to be the most natural in front of the camera of any of the Switchers so far.

She is absolutely insane. I like that.
Some of the posters here forgot they were once teenagers. And If they were not like this girl, they missed the opportunity to do and speak what they want and feel. Forever.

Just a different angle on the ads. I liked it, it speaks to her peer group, it seemed natural and is a nice counter to "Steven".

BTW, "Steven" seems like he's a bit too happy.. or brain damaged, and no one here seems to mind.. Maybe he's on x.. (no, not as in OS X)

The ad with Ellen is the only ad I like of the switch ads that are on apples switch page. It is funny and when I think about it she talks just like stand-up comedians.
Apple needs ads like this one and the two others that were shown on MW, they are funny and people remember them.
Watching that little guy saying "It [ipod] makes me feel powerful" was just hilarious.

That blunt pic made me fall out of my chair. OH **** MY SIDE HURTS NOW. AHEM. I think the ad is EXACTLY how a lot of 15-16 year old girls act. I even know a few college students in my classes who were exactly like her. I died when she said it went "beep beep beep and ate my paper" I've had students tell me exactly that word for word.

I have a feeling apple pulled the video to whiten her eyes a little.. her eyes are so bloodshot she must have been up all night or maybe she's had a liquid lunch before the take.

Are the other 2 that showed after the Ellen one, online?

Those are the one where the male student likes the iPod, and the one with the porn actor.

Damn 77 messages about a girl on Apple's site? It's obvious that most of you like this girl and despite the "crack" jokes you know you'd jump in the sack with her in a heartbeat. Guys don't talk about what they're not interested in.

Actually, her ad indicates that she lost half her file. Which I take to mean that she didn't save her file after typing the 2nd half of her "really good paper", and then her PC crashed or power failure or whatever.

Or she highlighted half of it, and pressed the delete key. (and didn't know how to undo).

It can't really be a hard disk crash, since she would have lost the whole file.

My point is that, this could easily happen on a Mac couldn't it? Not knowing when to save, and not knowing about how to undo, aren't "PC disadvantages".

The movie was still online for me, but I couldn't watch it, because every time I buy a QuickTime key, it expires before I can finish loading the page.

(Okay, sorry, I'm just really frustrated with Apple right now. It actually did work for me.)

At the satellite broadcast of the keynote at the Infomart in Dallas, they didn't get the audio working until Ellen's ad was over, but I did see the one after her and Will Ferrell's (I'm sure I spelled that wrong) spoof ad. His was freaking hilarious, but the second kid was good, too - everybody in the room nearly fell out of their chair when he talked about his iPod making him feel powerful.

This has got to be the worst Apple ad ever. It gives me the impression that Mac users are either just a bunch of druggies or idiots. A "valley girl" approach would've been more effective. The Tess one was really well done, on the other hand.

If that child isn't high, she's suffering from a real bad case of allergies or she didn't get enough sleep the night before the shoot! Regardless, the girl looks like she is straight up lit!

I don't really mind how she talks. That's ok ... she is a kid after all. It's those red eyes that's the problem. I mean d*mn ... didn't somebody on the set have some VISINE?

I'm pretty sure that's what happened to Ellen. I just tried that in Word: Select half of a paper and do a Cut. Maybe she accidently hit control-x. It makes that bleep-bleep-bleep sound she described.
