okay...so I can't figure out how i did this at all...but my friends girlfriend just bought an iBook. And she came over because having trouble with her cd rom drive. So i take a look at it and fix it and everything, and I get her onto the network here. So i go to the sharing control pane and it just sits there and doesn't do anything, it's a blank screen like it's loading. So i click around because I'm angry, and after a while one of my clicks goes through, and it's the display's thing. So i don't want that, so i click show all and then sharing again. It loads immediately, and instead of saying file sharing off is says
"Cupertino Sharing On
lot's of information for you.
and you.
and timmy."

No joke. I am so confused, I thought apple axed this...anyone verify? I am so confused....talk to me.

If this is an easter egg, it should be possible to find that text by hacking around inside Network.prefPane...

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

That is, in fact, the text that is in the nib file. It seems that in System Preferences' confusion, the correct text did not replace the default. Here's a shot:

I got somewhat of a relative easter egg i think ..

see:
http://forums.applestudentdevelopers...p?threadid=560

or to quote:

Setting up my new eMac here at work (OS X 10.1.5; all updates) with all the apache stuff and I notice this httpd.conf has:

#ServerName caddyshack

is this new? I mean I generally remember a more subtile name of SeverName of something

BTW, do you get a free cup of soup with this Hat
Another poster say's his server name was "fisheye"

I look on my Powerbook right now .. it's "contact"

I can't understand why these are so random?

BTW the file is at:

/etc/httpd/httpd.conf

open in vi or pico via terminal if you like and search for "ServerName" to see yours.

I searched the httpd file and my server name is also caddyshack. I like that warning they give you at the beginning of the file: don't just read the instructions, make sure you understand them. You have been warned! Cool.

Apple uses the "NS" prefix in several places outside the public Fountaton and AppKit API. There are private classes in those two frameworks, as well as in a couple of other binaries such as the System Prefs framework/app.

My favorite undocumented class so far is the "SJButtonCell" class in Dock.prefPane's binary. I didn't know Steve wrote this stuff himself.
