Ah! Misconception!
I haven't actually purchased the PS3 yet. There's a shortage around here. I've checked some local Best Buys, Gamestops, and one Wal-Mart, but everyone's out. For whatever reason, this whole area is on a game system-buying spree.
I was going to wait for the new, $400 80GB version anyways, but I'm taking my youth group to New Orleans this weekend, and told the gaming-crazed guys who are staying in my room to bring their 360. We'll go a little Halo crazy, and I can see if I love it anywhere as close to how much I loved the old ones.

Is that a new record?
Of course not! I've actually been walking out of the store with a system in hand wondering, "Did I just do the right thing?"

Even if I had bought it already, does anyone here actually think I'd have "truly chosen" at that point?

I guess "went with" is the closest thing.
Sometime, you need to tell your wife she should appreciate your inability to commit is limited to the console realm. Probably the next time you change your mind on one.

Just suck it up and buy both. It's really the only way to be truly satisfied.

You're going to think I'm joking, but I broke up with my wife 5 times (she claims responsibility for 2 of them, but I think that's just so I don't look like such a fool)...
[EDIT] I thought I should add that I'm 100% satisfied with my decision to get married. No regrets on that purcha-...uh, commitment.

It is done. I am a PS3 owner. I currently have zero regrets.
I haven't even been able to unbox it yet. I'm in New Orleans, and won't be back until after midnight Saturday. We'll see...we'll see...

Ugh, my brain hurts!
Just wrapped up world 2 after tearing my hair out on a few of them, now I'm stuck in the last levels of world 3.
Cool game, hard game, brain hurts.

Since we're just pulling guesses out of our hats, I'd guess Sony wasn't offered any sort of reasonable deal for exclusivity. 20 million 360s is hard to ignore.
This is indeed a major coup for MS. You're right it's not really terrible news for PS3 fans per se, but it is as you suggest terrible news for Sony.
My only concern is that they shitty down the game to make it easier on the 360 CPU or storage.
Storage yes (esp. if there is a lot of recorded content). CPU no.
P.S. I'm still quite impressed at the phenomenon that the Wii has become. Wii junk... errr... accessories are EVERYWHERE... And it's interesting seeing Wii yoga videos in the electronic store gaming departments (which are staffed by 17 year old male computer geeks).

Not that it means much in the greater scheme of things, but nonetheless, I thought it was interesting that the Xbox 360 finally beat the PS3 one week in Japan. Of course, the Wii still won the week though.
Week ending Aug. 10 in Japan:
Wii: 41044
360: 28116 <-- Tales of Vesperia launched August 7.
PS3: 10705

No. I'm on the last level and it's obnoxiously epic and tough. The whole game is a pain in the ass. But in a good way. Each level is so short and easy once you figure it out... it just take an hour or two of dying over and over before you get each part down to a science.
I'm going back through the earlier levels and finding the hidden weapon upgrades before moving on.

I don't know who else here uses Connect360, but I finally had to turn it off last night because it seems like it's almost always in a state of rescanning my HD (and using 80%+ of my CPU). They do give you a choice to select how often it rescans, but as far as I can tell, the application doesn't honor the suggestion, and they're ludicrous anyway, as the longest interval option is 2 hours.
Once a day seems like too often (though the exception might be podcasts...), but who the hell is throwing anything new in their videos folder often? It'd be nice if they had an option to turn it off/do it manually. (And they have an option to rescan as often as 5 minutes. If you've got new content on your Mac every 5 minutes, chances are you don't have time for the Xbox)
I think I'll be just going into SysPrefs to activate it when I need it, as I haven't been on the Xbox (nor accessing media on my Mac) very frequently lately.

Yeah, I too thought the 2 hours was odd for a maximum. Perhaps we should ask for a feature request. Scan only once per day, or at launch.
But how much are you scanning? I have it scan one directory, not my entire drive for example. It doesn't seem to bother my machine too much.

My iTunes folder, and my Movies folder. But that's like 100 GB right there. Maybe more.
Even worse, I was on 3.1.1, and it told me there's no update... but I was searching last night and the latest version is 3.1.5 (dropped last week). Apparently added the option to set the iTunes rescan. So I installed it, and it lists itself as 3.1.1, even though the iTunes rescan setting has appeared...

Yeah, I don't remember numbers so well.
Make it 3.31, but whatever I downloaded directly off their site left it at the same version number in the About. Not to mention the damn thing said I was up to date previous to that.

It's not a big deal to me that the version is wrong, as I said the iTunes rescan pref appeared. But I'm not used to or never noticed this kind of behavior from an app.

The Preference Pane gets relaunched after a new login.
Honestly I don't know if that is the cause of your version number discrepancy, but it seems logical that it could be.
P.S. Now that I have a rock solid powerline network, it has breathed new life into my 360's media streaming. 802.11g in my setup was simply too unreliable for video streaming. So basically I was only ever using it for a few photos and for some AAC/MP3 streaming. With my powerline network, now it's 100% stable, and with speeds around 30 Mbps, and great for video streaming.
It's too bad though that the 360 won't play QT HD H.264 consistently above 10 Mbps, cuz my network streams it just fine (to my MacBook). All of my QT 720p trailers are below 10 Mbps, but a few of my QT 1080p trailers go as high as 12ish Mbps. (It'd be nice if MS beefed up their H.264 support. I mean the 360 already plays up to 30 Mbps HD DVD H.264 just fine, so it's not as if the 360 can't do it.)

I had been wondering what had been making my Sawtooth so slow. I'm sure part of it is the lack of RAM, but I just turned off Connect360 and got quite a bit of speed back.

Yeah, but that's a Sawtooth. What do you have, a G4 450 or something? Even with a CPU accelerator those things are slow. I have both a Cube G4 450 and a Cube G4 1.7 BTW. I wouldn't want to run much in the background on either of them (although it's possible on the 1.7 GHz, depending on the app).

In all fairness, it's not complete. And i think in an interview with IGN and they mentioned theyre aiming for 100 zombies on screen.
Im not saying it's upto XB360 graphics, but who cares, theyre putting the RE4Wii engine to good use, and i guess when it's done it will capture the essence of the original in 480p.
Personally... whether its XB360 or Wii, this game is a 'meh' at best. enjoy it on ur Xb360 tho.
Cheers
