Another point: XBLA and PSN games have made this generation a lot more enjoyable for me personally.

There definitely have been quite a few worthwhile games this generation, so I guess I'm just letting my current disappointment with what will likely happen at E3 cloud my reasoning. All they have to do for me to be pleased is show off Last Guardian and inFamous 2. Team ICO's first two games were absolutely incredible, and inFamous has been my favorite PS3 game so far.
Yeah I want to see inFamous 2 as well. I really enjoyed that game as well.

Looks like some of the less reliable blogs are picking up rumblings of a $100 pricedrop on the PS3 and a $20 pricedrop on the Wii.
You know, I've been thinking, it's been 4-5 years since this round of consoles launched. Could be be seeing the next generation at E3? I think it's a big possibility.

Maybe from Nintendo, but that would be counter-productive as it would eat away from showcasing the 3DS. Otherwise, MS is focused on NATAL (so that would be unlikely and counter-productive as well), and Sony needs a few more years yet out of the PS3.
The idea of $100 price drop on the PS3 seems insane. It's been, what, less than a year? I could see a $50 around the holidays maybe.

Most Gamers Don't Even Know Project Natal Exists
OK, so that group includes people like PC gamers and Wii owners, who may not mash F5 on places like this every day. But even among Xbox 360 owners, 61% had never even heard of it (ignorance of the Move among PS3 gamers was at 58%).
At first I wanted to react like, "They're ****ed" but isn't the point of these big E3 events to jump-start the ad campaigns that will bring this knowledge to the masses in the coming months?

Odd, because Natal got some pretty big mainstream press when it was first announced. I remember they took it to the Today show and to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and I'm sure there were others. Maybe it's just been so long that people have forgotten?

Usually if I click through to an IGN article, I wonder why I even keep their RSS feed around, but this one actually does a good job of articulating what’s so irritating about the whole motion-control bandwagon.

I think I abandoned IGN back in 2004. The ads were obnoxious, you had to jump through hoops to see pics and videos, and their site took forever to load in general.

Same here. They took it to the consumer when they started charging for exclusive content and for disabling ads.
Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM), the best video game magazine ever IMO, just recently got relaunched by its original owner after Ziff Davis cancelled it last year. On top of receiving a monthly printed magazine, they release weekly digital magazines that are pretty revolutionizing. Check it out for yourself. Just curious what you guys think of the layout?

There was actually a request for it in their letters section and they're currently working on a version for the iPad.
Get on your computer and check it out.

Monday News: ...and we're off! Edition
Kinect is in, 'Project Natal' is out | Joystiq
Meh.
So What's Inside The New Xbox 360?
It looks like someone took a regular 360 case and added Mountain Dew. Which is to say they look like they're trying to go for an Xtreme! look.
A more promising new feature is the inclusion of a built-in wi-fi adapter, something gamers have been crying out for since the original Xbox 360 does not include one and Microsoft's add-on device is priced extortionately.
I'll take a "I'll believe it when I see it" approach on this one.
Rumor: 500GB PlayStation 3 Coming, Includes New Wi-Fi, Move
The source also says that these PlayStation 3 consoles will be new models, both containing the faster 802.11n wireless standard for quicker wi-fi speeds. This also checks out, since it was only last we week we saw two new PS3 models being tested by the FCC.
No price drop for you.

Kinect = pretty damned meh. The lightsaber game is cool, and I'd like to try it for a few minutes, but I do not want to spend $100-$200 to play it.
Still the only thing that I think is awesome about Kinect (ugh) is being able to control the dashboard with your hands a la Minority Report. But again, it's not worth the $100-$200 it'll cost.

I was commenting more on the name than anything else, but yeah, the preview games absolutely reek of the Wii.
I'll have to see about that Dashboard thing.

CPU-wise, how much stress are Kinect & Move going to put on XB360 & PS3 hardware ??

If there's one advantage the Microsoft and Sony products have over the Wii, it's the power. Both will be technically better than the Nintendo product.
That said, I doubt either will sell like the Wii though.

I'll admit, the voice commands are interesting.
I think I'd be more interested in the ESPN thing a few years ago. Now only if its on demand (maybe).
Edit: The HD would be a huge step up, though.

Is that correct? Gears of War 3 will finally feature a 4 player co-op campaign?
Halo Reach looks better and better with every trailer.

Yeah, that was already known. It'll make the GOW3 purchase more worthwhile, seeing as I think multi will get the brush-off this time 'round.

Jokell - You shut your whore mouth. Halo Reach looks amazing.
Dakar - Isn't that the only reason to purchase a Gears of War game?
p.s. - I noticed nobody has mentioned anything about the Call of Duty: Black Ops demo.

I think I commented on it earlier, but no. I'm assuming ethernet is still included in this bad boy. I don't wonder if the Arcade keeps its fat self around (at least til the end of the year) just to try and move Elite (or whatever its called) units.
Joystiq noted that pricing for Nata--err, Kinect was noticeably lacking.

Well, it just looks like a mix between an Alienware tower and an 80's sports car, but not in a good way. I see what they were trying to do, as the case has a little bit of an 'X' shape to it, but this looks like a bad throwback to the original Xbox's design.

Apparently ExtUSB is powered? I imagine it must use reg USB with a power adaptor too, or else they just left 30 million potential customers in the dust.

The new design is kind of growing on me. I like the fact they now include the power supply inside the console. No more huge power brick. We'll see if their claims of it being "whisper quiet" holds true. The DVD drive in my Elite is twice as loud as my previous Pro model (fan included).
