Yeah its been 11% increase on the new Albooks from the first. I wondered where everyone was getting 71watt batteries from. I guess the people who went to OWC hadn't read the press release on Newer's website. I have to say I was hardly impressed at the announcement... I mean 11% thats pretty pathetic. Just goes to show, always always check the manufacturer's site for specs on a product. Never trust the company thats selling it to have accurate information =)

This is not the AlBooks, but NewerTech is apparently actually shipping this item.

NewerTech Hi Capacity 7200mAh Lithium-Ion Battery
for PowerBook G3 Lombard (1999/bronze keyboard) & G3 Firewire (2000/aka Pismo)
-Replacement battery for the Powerbook G3 1999 "Lombard" & 2000 "Pismo" systems
-Directly replaces Apple parts M7318, M7385G/A
-50% increase in capacity over the original battery
-Li-Ion 10.8V, 7200mAh
-1 year warranty

If the dimensinos of the battery are about the same, maybe it won't be very long until we see a version for the AlBooks?

Sad state of affairs when this happens. NewerTech's website doesn't even mention the AlPB battery or their newest Ti 4800 mAh battery. Don't they even have a webmaster?

You have to go to OWC for details:

Another sad item is the battery life in the new crop of laptops. You can put a 7200 mAh battery in the Lombard, but you have only a 4800 mAh battery for an 11% increase in the AlPB. Given how important battery life is in a laptop, that's pretty chintzy.
