Also getting 6405kbps from Tiscali.

Gak. I've got 384 down and 128 up. I didn't realize just how much my cable modem sucked until just now. According to my bill, I'm getting the exact speed I'm paying for too. $35 a month for that crap? I need to pay more attention.

128kbps down / 68kbps up with EDGE through TMobileWeb (port 80 proxy server only) VIA bluetooth enabled cell. Feels more like GPRS though. Little better than dialup at least. And way cooler.

I just ordered an upgrade to my DSL service. I should be getting "up to 6Mbps downloads" within 10 days... I took advantage of AT&T's offer in my service anniversary window, so I'm actually going to spend about $2 less a month to get up to twice as fast downloads. Cool! I'll post when the speeds take effect.

Where I'm at: Daly City, CA (suburb of San Francisco)
What i'm paying for: Covad (DSL) 3.0Mb (~3000 kb) UP / 384 kb DOWN
What the speed test yields: 1685 kb UP / 313 kb DOWN
I used to get 2500-2600, but the connection keeps dropping. Probably because of 2 reasons:
1) poor phone line conditioning (inside and/or outside my home)
2) extremely long and slim phone cord (.04 inch)
That means the signal -would- degrade, become outright flakey, or simply die if it reached past the 1690-1700 'threshold'.
Most phone cords are .09 to .10 of an inch, over twice the thickness of what i have. And if i were to use that instead, it would make sense that my highest speed should probably be close to my old 2600 or slightly higher.
I'd get cable, but my house isn't wired for it and nor could my house take any more holes or cracks.

Datacenter, I presume? Well. At least my office has windows. Actually, no it doesn't.

hey, i have a window.
it just doesn't open.
or face outside.
i found this test a bit better: http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ as you can pick a server closer to you.
and no, not a datacenter. i know we have multiple super high speed connections here, but not precisely sure what they are. i'll have to check.

I took my first test on my Windows PC and the report is 4 posts above....
but i retook the test on my networked Power Mac 6100, and i get roughly 1525kbps/ 290kbps......
all in all, pretty accurate.................. and this tool is better than speakeasy..... well, primarily because it doesn't even run in Flash for Mac OS 9.x to begin with....
