I saw some kid with an open bag at the Grocery looking suspicious. He was hanging out near the beer. I mentioned it to the management. I guess they didn't get on it. Cuz I saw him running out later with no pursuit. I could see his bag. He was stealing bread and muffins. I watched him trot off not feeling bad he didn't get caught.

Gas is going up to CAD$1.273 per litre at midnight here.
That's CAD$4.819 per US gallon, or precisely US$4.90 per US gallon. Ouch.
The good news is my car still usually costs less than 40 bucks to fill up.
In the meantime, crude oil hit $135 a barrel today.

One of my fellow interns drives a Chevy 3500 with the diesel engine. He gets 15mpg. He regularly makes the 200 mile trip back to Iowa to see his friends. That's around $150 per trip home just in fuel.

He saw $ 4.50 at a gas station in Chicago today. Ouch.

I was gonna say that must be premium, but http://www.chicagogasprices.com/ claims up to $4.85 for regular in Alsip/Chicago. 
However, that seems to be anomaly (or simply incorrect). Other Alsip prices are up to $4.29, with Chicago-Central up to $4.45-4.49.

I think a lot of people are in this situation. This is going to be a major drag on our economy as people realize that putting gas on a credit card will only fly for a little while.
