When Davy Jones died, Nesmith, Tork, and Dolenz decide not go go because they felt it would cause a media circus. Does anyone know if Takei, Nichols, and Koenig made it to the funeral?

His feelings run more deeply than what you'd see in a typical Hollywood funeral, I'd say, and it's no one else's damned business how he deals with his grief. What would be the point? To be "seen" by the media? That's not how I'd want to say my farewells to such an old friend.

I don't know the details of Nemoy and Shatner's relationship, but I do know that most of the cast pretty much cannot stand Shatner, and most are not that shy about it.

I saw the Shatner thing. I have my own thoughts on the subject, but I don't feel the subject really even need mentioning. It's a footnote in both their relationship and Shatner's controversial existence.

So, will "Beam me up Scotty" be inappropriate for the future Shatner memorial thread?

If you WERE a real fan you would have been paying closer attention last Tuesday when Nimoy was taken to the hospital, and would have been faster to post your own thread, not just act like a baby in this one.

Holy shit.
Leonard Nimoy just died, a fan posted a tribute thread, and you two assholes have nothing better to do than wag your fan-penises at each other on an internet forum?
I realize that this post probably crosses a line that will get me warned, but holy shit, guys.
That's just unbelievably puerile and pathetic.
**** the both of you.
Let's lock this thread.

It's highly illogical.

I'm late to the memorial thread. This crushed me.
I was of the age that saw the movies first, went back to see the original series, and then began collecting TNG, then DS9. Spock was always my favorite.
The final tweet was amazing.

Didn't see it posted elsewhere: Nimoy's final tweet.

The two of them played up the "rivalry" thing during the series, and to some extent afterward. But they were really good friends, and neither seemed to really take that fan magazine stuff seriously. Frankly, Shatner doesn't seem to take anything about fandom seriously, and I think that's a good thing. It's fine to be a fan, but getting all awestruck because you are meeting a celeb has to be really boring to the celeb.

Fun Nimoy fact: He was the original voice of Galvatron before he voiced Sentinel Prime.
