Okay, this is odd. I got my url working too. However clicking next doesn't work for me. The chasing arrows spins forever and the page never loads.

Anyway, one feature that I would like to be added to OmniWeb is the ability to jump right to the item in a list menu by typing the letters out. This feature is available in IE. Take for instance you have a list menu of states. So instead of scrolling down to find California, I can just type "c" and it'll jump right to it. Very handle with a long list.</STRONG>
Works fine for me. I live in Arizona, so I have to type 'ari' to get through all the other 'A' states. It handles that fine.

Nope, doesn't work for me. All it does is change my URL in the location bar. I'm using the latest OmniWeb sp74.

I forgot. Do you have "Full Keyboard Access" turned on in System Preferences? It relies on that to be able to select a popup list.

ack - I'm finding b5 to be extremely unstable - 10 crashes in as many launches in the last 10 minutes. I'm even having to type this in IE.
I re-imported my bookmarks in case that was it - anybody else getting this problem?
EDIT - I deleted all my history files and that seems to have stopped the crashing (yay!)

I'm having good luck with b5 and it hasn't crashed on me even once...so far.
It seems quick at rendering the web-pages I frequent.

4.1 beta 5 feels much faster on my 500/DP than any previous sp releases. Scrolling is lightning quick and pages draw almost instantly. Besides being snappy, OW 4.1b5 seems very stable. A joy to use!
I guess 4.1 official release is not far around the corner.

Well, apart from pulsating form buttons turning black But yes, now that tables render quickly and without jumping around the page I'm glad I paid for a license.

I've been having an increasingly-frequent problem lately. Every once in a while, OW will only partially load a page, and then somehow decide that it's done. The word "Loading" will disappear from the title bar, and I'll be left with either a partially-rendered page or a completely blank one. Hitting "reload" always fixes the problem.
This happens randomly, without apparent regard to the type of page being loaded. It occurs on beta 5, and happened on the last few SPs, as well. Anyone know what's going on?

Beta 5 is the first version that hasn't crashed an hour after use. Acutally, I've been using it for what 2 days now with no crash while IE hangs on MacNN (OW won't load all the images sometimes tho) and crashes ever so often. Seems like the IE updates have made it unstable. Looks like OW is about to become my default browser.

b5 has only crashed once for me so far. i had several windows open at once, which always causes OW to run a bit sluggishly and misbehave.
no frozen, spinning cursor moments yet...
looks like we may be getting close!

Unless I'm missing something b5 *is* the most recent version. Since it's available on their main OW page, there's no need to post it on the sp page...
Also, the apple store page works just fine for me in b5.

Um, nope. Try a page with more than one default button (say you have two search wells) and flip between them - the first one will be fine, but the second will turn black, or just not pulsate.

Ahh. I thought you were referring to this "black" button not the dark gray button like this
The first one was fixed in SP74.

I would guess they are getting ready for the final 4.1, or at least release candidates.

release notes for sp75 are now posted - the big news (for those not using speech recognition) seems to be the new stop-loading-old-page-when-link-is-clicked preference that's on by default in sp75.
I don't know about others, but I'm not noticing a huge difference with its presence. (The note says only those on congested networks would benefit - apparently I'm not on one).
Others' experience?

Has anyone else noticed that sp76 has lost OmniWeb's dock awareness? All other builds would stop at the dock but this one won't (like MS Explorer). Also, How come every time you click OmniWeb's icon in the dock it opens a NEW window, even if you already have one open? Frustrating.

This is excellent - with graphics intense pages I was always frustrated by the way OmniWeb prioritised the loading of pages.

Don't see that here on SP76 v394. It's still very dock aware.

Is anyone else having problems with inserting "Instant Smilies" or "Instant UBB code" here in sp76 (v394)?

I did yesterday when i posted that v394 was up, but relaunching OW fixed it.
Edit:
Now, I can't get it to work at all.

For those of you who have removed IE from your DefaultHelpApps.plist file, you'll notice that IE is no longer in the default browser popup anymore with SP76.
However, IE still becomes the default if you update OW.

I'm noticing other problems with this release (sp76 v394) such as CSS seems to be more broken again (some sites with tables have reverted to variable column widths where they should be all the same - e.g. the MacCentral forums page) and with MacNN, clicking the far right name in the forum index doesn't automatically jump to that message once the thread has loaded - it just stays at the top.
Relaunching hasn't helped.

I'm running SP76 v394 and it is NOT dock aware. Anyone else have input on this? SP75 and all other previous SP's were dock away but it's gone for me in SP76. Maybe a restart will fix it?
EDIT: Just downloaded SP75 again and confirmed it is dock aware and SP76 v394 isn't.

You're weird...sp76 *is* dock aware.
I just wish that Apple would do something about vertical-dock-awareness.
I was about to say that all cocoa apps are dock-aware and there's nothing you can do about it...but then I tried TextEdit out of the 10 cocoa apps I use most, the exception to the rule it seems.
Anyhoo...OW is dock-aware.

Hmmm...I swear it wasn't a minute ago...but maybe that was because I had to set my dock position to 'bottom' and the TextEdit window was already under the dock.
CONFIRMED...all cocoa apps are dock-aware, and you can't do anything about it. Therefore OW is dock-aware.
Another funny thing is dragging any cocoa app window's titlebar below the bottom of the screen will push the window back up so that the whole titlebar is least present. Not so with carbon.

Very cool. If your dock is on the bottom, then it will push the window's titlebar to be just above the dock.

Doesn't do that for me either. It only creates a new page when I have no other windows visible.
Try removing your prefs. Maybe there's something wonky in them that is causing this.
