That's some crazy stuff (about the eye). Did you have any vision loss?

Dislocating a shoulder/hip for the first time is painful. Especially if you've been working out and there's a lot of tissue that had to tear to become dislocated.

gout in my right ankle. an inherited condition for me (thanks dad...at least you gave me something...). unreal pain.....the weight of a bedsheet is intolerable - and i have a *very* high pain threshold. luckily the anti-inflammatories work pretty quickly...but now that i have had this incident i have to be careful and avoid some of the triggers....

True That ^!

The scariest pain I ever had was waking up when I was about 6 years old with no sight. I had conjunctivitis and my eyes wouldn't open. It was so scary. I was in a new house, I couldn't see, couldn't hear anyone. I was terrified, I'll never forget that.

I almost wasn't. I also lost a brother from this illness.

I've still got some minor complications from it ... but fortunately I'm recovering nicely. Hopefully that's the worst thing that ever happens to me in my life. :-)

This isn't really a story of pain, more like a near death story.

Had pneumonia twice, almost died the second time... if you have ever had pneumonia, you'll know what I mean when I say, I didn't want to even get up, I couldn't. You just have no energy to breath let alone do anything else.

Sorry to hear about the loss, my sister just lost a classmate to this a few weeks ago.

The eye story reminds me of a time when I was younger and in camp. I was walking behind some other kids and one of them pushed a branch forward to go by and let it swing back and a long thorn hit my eye. That hurt, but I can see fine so I guess I am lucky.

I have definately seen worse pain than I have experienced. Last summer in Israel I had a patient that stepped on the head of a harpoon and got it stuck in his foot.

He died before I was born. :-( No personal loss to me other than curiousity. (My more immediate loss was my mother and in hindsight that hurt worse than the brain illness.)

Eyes are fragile ... must be careful. All sorts of things can damage those round little buggers.

Harpoon? Wow .....

In the service back in 82 I was asleep in the barracks when I heard some guys coming in after the bars had closed. Laughing, yelling and being obnoxious for the longest time. Finally I heard a blood curdling scream that went on and on. I followed the racket to the head(bathroom) and found one guy holding up his arm with blood dripping everywhere and a tendon or something which looked like it unravelled out of his arm. It seems he and his buddy thought it would be hilarious to punch through the bathroom windows. Halfway through the row he tore open his arm. Needless to say, little simpathy was shown, though he was obviously in some intense pain.

I've had 13 kidney stones that i caught. One was removed by inserting something in the head of my penis, all the way to the bladder and fishing it out, as it was obstructing the tube. I dunno why they didn't use the shock pool, but I was told I'd probably get sick and die if my bladder had ruptured.
Of all the pain I've experienced in my life, from broken bones to motorcycle accidents to bone graphs(sp) to a broken heart, that's the worst pain. Ever.

I once read an article that quoted a woman saying "I'd rather give birth every year for the rest of my life than ever have to pass another kidney stone".

I've never had one, but I certainly don't ever want to experience one either.

I empathize with you as I also have had gout attacks and yes, Cataflam does work quickly. I do have an 1880 medical book, Flint's Practice of Medicine, that says it is caused by too much beer and it can be relieved by a South Seas voyage.

Would the IRS buy this argument and let me deduct the trip? sam

Appendicitis.

But I agree...dampeoples wins. Do we have a penis trophy in the MacNN storage closet? Or did we run out? (They're so versatile)

We gotta give the guy something.
Do you want forgiveness or respect?
