My screenshot above with the vines next to open farmland, melons baby. Watch out, there were 4 cave spider spawners in fairly close proximity in my abandoned mines. I'm gonna have to plan and see how many I can funnel into a string grinder, busting the webs with a sword gets you string BTW.

I'll be sure to clear it with the Government before I annex some land, though I may be a transient crashing in your houses as I make my way to new lands.

If nothing else your tardiness at least now gives you a pretty decent amount of safe jumping off spots to scout for places

Blaze's map can definitely give you an idea of what looks appealing as well.

There's still a place in the village where you can put a home base Dakar, demolish the sugarcane next to blaze's house. Or the pumpkin patch.
I hadn't tried a sword on the cobweb Blaze. This area of the mine seems very rich in every kind of spawner. What did you say earlier about diamonds and spiders?

I just came in here to ask if the community village existed. Is that near spawn? Were there any rules?
Also, how dare you people take my plot of land for sugar cane or pumpkins.

You will spawn right near the village, only rule is there are no rules, also a 7x7 plot from not to high to bedrock is all yours.

Check out the map link I posted before, it's only a few days old. You'll spawn near the village, and there the consensus has been 7x7 plots. The are outgoing rails in both seks and my basements. As far as land goes were much more spread out this time, well except for those two. Be careful, as the map shows the actual spawn is quite a ways away from the village. The map also shows were people have left beds

I'm letting a friend from work on. He's a software engineer too so expect red stone usage. Given events in his personal life I don't expect he'll be any more active than the rest of us.
No-one build this.
It puts you in a spawn kill spawn loop after you die.

Are pigs glitched or what? I've slaughtered several (perhaps tens) and none drop pork chops. I did light one on fire, however, and was rewarded with a solitary cooked chop.

I've killed a few but not enough to notice. I didn't lead any to my island.
I updated the map.

I died due to a long fall last night (near my castle), and was spawned in a far, far, far, faraway desert. I think it must've been the edge of our world, because I hit an invisible wall before realizing the direction in which I needed to head. It took me a good 45 minutes to make it home.
Oh, and it spawned me elsewhere because "my home bed was inaccessible" or "blocked" or something of that nature.

As I mentioned previously I had to do some fiddling because of the difference between single player and multiplayer. One of those is the actual spawn point.
I don't see what invisible wall you could have hit. There's a guy trying to reach the edge overland and in several months hasn't done it.

Green line in progress, heading north. I see Dakar has moved in.
And on the map I see there's a new wooden house off beyond Jawbone's desert... Jawbone? Or new home of Dakaria?

How often does the map update? I did a bunch of exploring last night but it doesn't seem to have shown up.

It updates when I get of my ass and run the generator. I guess I could set it up as a cron task. It takes 20 minutes at the moment and makes 700MB of files. I'm AFK till tommarrow night for the delayed family Christmas.

Our family meals were followed by a ton of down time, so a lot of progress was made on the road.
Before progressing any closer, I wanted to check with everyone if it is okay for me to extend the road to where it reaches our original village, for quicker, safer(ish) access to mine and sek's lands. It would connect to the gate on the south end of town, between mine and sek's house.

I would like to connect my newest courtyard to your road if given permission, I'll make it the same size and style as you're using.

I really like your road, how you can see it from the map and use it as a landmark. Very safe too, I sprinted from your cactus house all the way to my railway in the night.
Heck, I say we can all work on it and continue it. I'm ok with it keeping on straight and then branch left to the village (mainly because you can't continue straight north out of the village without dropping into the ravine). After I complete my rail I can work above ground.
How are you doing it so fast, any hack or trick?

I was hoping you'd say that. I've got it all lined up for us. Take a gander when you get back on.

Thank ya. Since we're all so spread out, and everyone is doing more adventuring, the landmark and safe travel were the two reasons I started it. The template for it is simple: 3 stone brick blocks wide in the middle, a smooth stone outline, and torches every 8 blocks on the smooth stones.
I'm going to decorate it a bit once it's laid out, and if you check out some of the stairways near the desert, I'm creating safe houses within the stairs along the way. I plan on building at least into the snow biome far south of our mountains. The only dangerous areas are the hills and mountain areas where you can't see around you.
How are you doing it so fast, any hack or trick?
Nope, no tricks. I mined out so much cobble in my mine under the mountain that I was good on cobble forever (though I've nearly depleted my stock as of 10 minutes ago). I got charcoal for the furnaces by planting a massive forest along the road and then harvesting it with an enchanted axe (Efficiency II and Unbreakable II, thanks to Fatty's XP grinder).
When my son is asleep, it's my shift, and I'm not even close to tired, I just grind away at the road. It's basically the groundwork for future projects, so it's all I'm focusing on for now.
Oh, and the snow golems. I'm farming pumpkins.

I wonder how high a pedestal would need to be to keep a creeper from blowing up a snowman. Though the skeletons will kill them.

I made four. I think they're all dead (within two hours). Aggravating.
I wish snowballs did damage, even if only half a point or so.

Oh, and sek...
What you see now is something I added when you said you wanted to link the road with the courtyard. Afterward, I realized you might want it at water/ground-level. If so, just build at that level and I'll adjust the road to fit that style.

I must get some enchantment going. An unbreakable pickaxe would be sweet.
Anyone have some redstone to spare? I've used all mine for powered track.

I've probably got 10+ stacks of redstone dust, not sure if the other guys have as much, but I've got quite a bit extra lying around and a whole bunch still unmined since I ran out of chest room.

I burned almost all of the redstone I collected making my grinder, which still doesn't produce. There are allot more caves on the new map. Your probably better of using mine or fatty enchanting tables since it takes allot of cane to make 30 bookshelves. I got a lvl 43 enchant on a pick for max Fortune and Unbreakable. Unbreakable is a misnomer though supposedly it only makes them 10 - 50% longer.
I updated the map again, this time I had it generate as North up.

I brought over a full stack of bookshelves from the old world, no worries there. Just where to put them.
I may have to make a nice-ish cottage near-ish Sek and Jawbone, especially if I'll be mooching off their grinders often.

My grinder isn't up and running yet, but that shall soon be rectified.
As soon as I finish watching YouTube tutorials.
Also, Blaze, I fixed my enchanting table library, I believe.

The NPC village nearest our village is actually quite close to both me and JB. Now that the road connects the village and JB and I it seems that all you need to do is evict an NPC and steal his home.

Nice.
Dakar said he did some exploring. I'm assuming that's him that found the other snow biome.
Also, according to this map/compass, the sun sets in the North?
[EDIT] I love looking at that map wayyyy too much.

according to the game faq, my house is supposed to be in the north?
Then again, lots of places have a north.
