They really are beautiful computers. Absolutly gorgeous. I just wish they weren't so glossy on the cover and bottom. It drove me INSANE when I'd scuff my iBook up just putting it in my backpack. I love the cover on my PB. Maybe after the MBP changes enclosures the MB can adopt the one the MBP uses now!

Really what I'd like to see in the future is an aluminum "MacBook Advanced" being a MacBook, but with a video card and more factory RAM.

That would basically be a MBP w/o the backlit keyboard. Why not simply go for that then?

Hehe you said you wanted an Aliminium enclosure. Aluminium can't be molded as well as the plastic is on the MB. So if they do give it an alu exterior, it'll look something like the MBP only. Unless they come up with a new design.

seeing how the macbook has replaced both the ibook and 12" powerbook, im glad to see actual pictures of setups in this thread vs pictures of the notebook on any table.
i also love the fact that because the dell screen now matches an apple machine (blackbook) people have finally stopped complaining about false issues, the two do look like teh sex together.
great photos guys/gals!!!

You should do it! I'm using the 20" widescreen 2005fpw with my MacBook, along with an iCurve stand from Griffin. I really like it. I've consolidated all of my systems into my MacBook. I use Parallels for the various Windows versions and Boot Camp as my "XP-only system". You can also pick up a 24" Dell widescreen LCD for under $800, which is pretty awesome.

Yup...I have a Dell 20" Widescreen paired with my BlacBook..these are about $500. Same LCD as Apple...Looks better as a matched pair than with the latest Aluminum screens - cept for the Dell Logo. I am going to pair my old 20" Cinema display (with the acrylic casing) with my (eventual) Mac-Pro Desktop

I like that set up petertruong, I'm thinking of getting the same monitor myself. Although i have heard a lot about those banding issues, so i've been holding off for a while. Also I have been told that for image editing that the Appple Cinema Displays take the cake, so i'm still comtemplating saving up for one of those puppies!
Also I must complement you on the way that the black and silver coluour combination has been balanced! usually the MBP with a dell looks a bit out of place, although since you have the black and silver keyboard is balances it nicely!

Thanks, appreciate the compliments. The monitor is actually pretty nice, I don't see banding unless it's a certain type of image, but some pictures (like spheres) or something that has that gradient type design shows it. Dell said they will exchange it for a new A02 one though, but I'm sure it's nowhere near an ACD. As a college student, I'll take the 50% cheaper Dell until I need something that is quality.

Here's my previous Thinkpad T21 next to my MacBook I bought two weeks ago today.
Once again, pictures speak louder than words...
[On the monitor above, GaZelle is the codename for my hobby-desktop-PC. Its power is parallel to an Xbox 360, so that's how the codename got thet 360 suffix.]
Yes, that is UHF in the DVD pile.
T21 only has a single small vent and very rickety audio jacks.
I keep felt/rubber feet on the bottom of my Macbook to give it additional height. With it, I can slide the macbook around on a surface without worrying about scratching the hell out of the bottom if a small particle of debris is caught inbetween. The original rubber feet are too shallow for comfort...
No more damned disc tray! I'm always afraid disc trays can break if you eject them.
**** Note the extra space my macbook gets underneath with those pads.
Startup images!
IBM keyboard!
MacBook keyboard!
Two weeks into heavy use, no discoloration yet!
IBM screen. Not the horrible color accuracy and the pressure spots in the screen.
Yes, the REAL background color is actually the detault Silver theme "Graphite Gray" color. My camera registers it as a rather bright blue, surprisingly.
MacBook screen. Note the color accuracy and overall uniformity of the image.
Laptop asses! IBM clunker. Paper lantern reflections in the macbook!
Well there you have it. Quite a comparison, eh?

to continue the screen discussion, would I be considered totally anti-cool if I mentioned that you can get a 19" Gateway widescreen monitor for about $270 at Best Buy? .

I think I've seen that monitor. It tilts and rotates, dosen't it? It's kind of a glossy black color? DVI input?

O.o If I'm not mistaken, isn't it better (and advised by Apple) to not put things like towels under your MB? Just pointing out.

he heats the towel up, and just before he jumps into bed, he takes it out from underneath the macbook, and puts it in his bed.
and there ya have it, no need for a hot water bottle.
but nah, seriously now. i would advise against doing that. as it leaves no where for the heat to escape to.
and dont worry, the bottom of your laptop wont get scratched, because of its feet.
but then again, its not my laptop, so its your choice

Hey Star-Fire could you take a pic of your BlackBook that's similar to the one you took of the Apple on a MacBook Pro?
EDIT: Also, that Acer display is a nice lil find, there, dude. It doesn't say Gateway on it and it's got all the same features! XD!

Heres my iMac and Macbook in my studio, I move everything around a LOT between upstairs and this room, so it's always in a state of chaos.
not pictured is my electronic percussion just on the other side of the chair.

your right that is the 19 inch ViewSonic VA1912wb. It is a great moniter. I had to mess with the brightness settings and the color profile to get it to have the same colors moniter on the MBP but other than that it is great. The colors on it are great on it and I primarly use it for graphics and viewing and editing pictures. If you are interested in this moniter or any 19 inch moniter in this price range I think this is one of the best out there.

cool- that's great to hear. i'm either going to get that one, or this acer one (which i hear uses the same panel that's in the viewsonic one)
