Yep, I logged on yesterday to discover these. Liked it so much I decided to give them a more wintery companion...

I like the snowy tree look. perhaps I'll build a big one somewhere and you can do your Jack Frost impersonation on it
(although my daughter asked me what was going to happen for new years.... )

We'll erect a giant champagne glass. Or a T.G.I. McScratchy's.
Edit: I am kinda bummed out I don't have a non-desert town, if only to winterfy it and put up a giant xmas tree in the center of town.

I logged into the vanilla world to play with fireworks, set off a few, then had an abrupt crash. Now when I log in either I get a socket error or I am floating in space.
Did Tekkit get updated?

In the village, on top of the train station, trying to get a good view for a screenshot.
I see it's all better now.
I haven't logged into tekkit since before christmas.

I just watched The Story Of Mojang documentary and want try this out but I fear I may be a bit overwhelmed on where to start. Probably shouldn't tackle any mods until later down the path...?

There's enough recipes to keep you busy in vanilla. Should you get bored or "master" it then you should consider moving on to mods.

A bored BLAZE is a bad thing. I had a machine that abused the turtle placement bug to turn wood into iron. Then as I was typing the first version of this a creeper came to visit. I have pictures but I'm not dealing with uploading them.
Edit: Okay I put it back together. Its set up above my rail station for those interested.

Interesting machine. I see it needs creosote oil? Want me to dump the blast furnace waste to an ender chest that points there? or better yet, should we expand on this and make an automatic wood farm to feed the blast furnace perpetually? (wood-> charcoal-> coke/creosote and wood->iron>steel) Then we could cover the land in steel blocks!
(bad cycl0pse!)

(assuming this is the vanilla server)
My skel grinder gets the occasional creeper, so feel free to lurk there.
Also, I have a few stacks in my 'coal' chest next to the furnace. Feel free to take what you'd like. I can get more and really only use it for splash potions.

Blaze, do you mean your sky grinder? It does appear to be dropping some items out the spout, and the loot elevator pistons are working, but I didn't see the water flood the trap. So some loot was hanging out on the trap, not falling down to the elevator. Which way does the switch have to be for water?
I feel a little like the last survivor after a nuclear war, I'm raiding all your houses for perishables and ammo.

Okay I fixed the stuck repeaters. And it's off now. If you flip the lever in the main circuit room it will start up. Dis you leave the chickens or did my egg explode.

Just felt the Minecraft itch again today.
I'm currently wrestling with a sorting system so I can easily dump my inventory and have it automatically sorted. I don't really know what I'm doing at the moment though.
If you are going to sign on anytime soon you can show me what's going on with the rail system.

The progress thus far:
I've figured out the correct way to arrange the Sorting Machines in sequence, having them pass along random items until they find their home. The first major task is setting up the 6 chests on the left here to deal with the myriad of sliced blocks I've been accumulating. Each chest is going to deal with one block type, such as covers, and has 20 variations available to do so. The other 20 is for the next chest (2 chests per machine is about the max amount that is useful). While this is still not technically enough filtering to deal with every conceivable block type I'm more interested in sorting the most commonly used types.
The blocks that do not have a home eventually become the filters for future sorting machines.

Well, I put a finish in the tunnel in a style that made me think of you. Other than that, I'm building a pub in town.
I've been wanting to log on for the past couple weeks, but I can't find a reason [project] to.

I'm making some changes with the server and i'd appreciate it if some off you would check the vanilla server for lag issues. I know when I tried making changes before Sek experienced some pretty bad lag.

I'll check it out.
I tried again today to launch tekkit, did some google, installed latest java, reinstalled the launcher, trashed the cache, then found this thread:
forums.technicpack.net/threads/mac-users-important-fix-hello-crash-problem.35023
Is this you blaze? and these guys are jerks. Yeah, it doesn't work.

Yeah they're a buch of fluffy little bunnies aren't they. They tell you "Try the latest java" when its actually the latest java thats the problem. It STILL requires Java 6 not Java 7.
Try this first. If that doesn't work go to the terminal an type "java -version" so we know what version its trying.
Java for OS X 2012-006

Oddly enough, I signed into the vanilla server the other day and experienced quite a bit more lag than the Tekkit server. I'll sign back in again today and run around a bit more.

Okay the tekkit server is on the new machine too. I still have the original copy running in case something goes very wrong.
Okay bad things are happening on the vanilla server.
Well I think I fixed the permissions and chunk errors. Lost any changes made since the 25th though. Including player position

Hilariously enough I've been updating the Technic Launcher to play the Voltz mod and now Tekkit won't work. I'll check out how the vanilla server runs for me in a bit.

Really I'd rather this stuff be assimilated into future Tekkit versions.

Sure but I'm the only one who gets to be OP. And I will make full use of creative mode. Oh and I'll add in computer craft so I can build roving turtles that drop a radar and call in missile strikes.

If this should come to pass...

You know whats hilarious? The most damaging warhead isn't the antimatter or black hole one. It's the one that resets the chunk. So no matter what you do, it's like it never happened.

Hilariously building in Voltz has the exact same bottleneck, the making of copper wires.
Of course making the insulated wires requires leather instead of rubber so one of the first things I had to get up and running was a cow breeding program.
Coolest machine so far is a smelting factory. Tier 1 can smelt 3 things at once, Tier 2 can smelt 5 things at once and I assume the highest Tier is even better than that. The recipe system is fairly borked through NEI. Many times trying to find out how to produce a certain dust or ore will lead you to smelting a block of the ore....if I had the block I wouldn't need to know this. Also there appears to be no way to make Steel (a very necessary thing) without using Steel to build the machine that makes it or using RailCraft and a blast furnace, which of course means a trip to the nether.
Duncan was right to cheat them in the needed materials for their video series on Voltz, much of my time has been spent mining so far. I did make my first missile, an incendiary one, and burned a section of Jungle across from me about 100 blocks away. Making the missile will almos always require TNT, which means lots of gunpowder from creepers....which is also a huge chore. I like the idea of this pack, and the machinery and whatnot, but it seems some early on crafting balancing issues need to get sorted. Such as, real gunpowder is made from charcoal powder, sulfur powder, and potassium nitrate. Seems to me you should be able to craft gunpowder (since sulfur is in Voltz anyways) from materials you find, instead of having to farm creepers.
