That was me. I was browsing the items and wondered what it looked like. It was so mob like.

hammer = awesome
not quite as good as turtle (doesn't dig dirt or gravel) but very satisfying to wham a bunch of obsidian in one blow. Only found a wood template though, have to make a mold so I can make them of iron. Also liking the repair feature of the tinker tools.

cool.
anyone know how to turn back on searching in NEI? I seem to have shut it off accidentally. I have a new mouse with multiple buttons and it goes crazy clicking things I don't intend to.
Also, when I used the black portal, a creeper was waiting for me at Blazes. [edit] portal fixed.

Just hit "O" when your inventory is open and NEI will reappear.
Or double click the text box and it'll unlock the search, not sure which issue you are having.

I got it turned on, but must be switching off recipe mode somehow. It comes and goes. Maybe time to take a break, but I'm almost accomplishing something?

what version of thaumcraft are we running? I followed the v4 version to make a wand, but clicking on a bookshelf does not give me the thaum book.

we are on v4 of Thaum. Did the wand have any charge in it when you tried?

That mob grinder is so useful for sooo many things!
On an unrelated note, it looks like they fixed dim doors for SMP. I'm going to fire up the test platform this week/weekend and verify.

cy, going thru your red wool portal, did you make that awesome castle or was it generated? Very cool! must have taken FOREVER! Took me long enough just to climb to the top...
Nice treasure at the top too, which I'm leaving as is.

I cannot take credit for the castle... it's one of the "Better Dungeons" generated structures. Back on the Hexxit server, Sek and I cleared one out and took it over for our group base. We could consider doing similar with a structure on this server.
If you want to see another one, head N-E of the red portal one. In the snow there are a pair of castles (again, generated) one that I mostly cleared out and a second that still have all the mobs in it. Be warned: they are not typical zombies and such, but rather heavily armed and armored men that attack as a group. Have an escape plan, or lots of health potions. (preferably, both an escape plan AND lots of potions). The "boss" is especially nasty, with a teleport ability that makes him annoyingly strong.
Though the thought of building a big castle on that scale holds a certain appeal...

That boss had a what 4 kills to his credit? And I had double health and regen potions.
I fixed some of the white portals and added one to Lapis Land

added on to lapis land? gonna have to look...
(is it just me, or does that sound like a theme park? welcome to lapis land, home of everything blue! over here is the blue streak roller coaster, and over there is the sapphire float arcade game. Be sure to try the blue cotton candy on your way out. don't mind the slimes, they are park staff...)
ran into a necromancer last night while I was on. They are irritating, to say the least. However, a fast shooing bow with fire helps tremendously. Since he wasn't that far 'west' of my home base, I consider meeting him the 'neighborly' thing to do. Don't think he's going let me borrow a cup of sugar, though...

bow with fire = ultra awesome.
Cy, I wasn't able to get on with the kid yesterday to give him the tour, maybe tomorrow. I finally found fire shards for my thaumicon (and a nice stash of diamonds), but had to go on a long excursion to find a plain ol' vanilla chicken for a feather! Discovered Mammoths could fly. Well it seemed like they could.

quick sound-off question. So we don't get confused, who has what portal guns and which is your primary?
For myself, I have one (the atlas) and it's currently not in use (until I verify no one else is using it)

I have all three, but after the first try where I messed up the atlas portals to lapisland, I've switched to bacon.

I haven't been on much the last few days. Been dealing with a misbehaving dishwasher. (yay). I did see a large number of java errors, so I bounced the server. Let me know how it's doing.
Also, at some point this weekend (I'll post when) I need to bring it down to replace the RAID controller battery.

It seems better the last day or so.
Thanks to Blaze for the valiant effort helping me and Dwarfhunter storm a reverse tower. We were woefully underprepared, but it was fun, aside from all the dying.
while I'm here, it seems that buildcraft pipes don't play with hoppers. How can you connect a hopper to a device a few blocks away?

Hoppers won't output to pipes (valid inventories only) You can connect multiple hoppers to each-other in a line, or just use Buildcraft pipes and an Autarchic Gate on a Wooden Extraction Pipe to pull from the machine and pipe to where it needs to go. I recently dismantled a setup I had that used many Autarchic Gates, you can grab a few from the chest in my laser array room (near the kitty tombstone) if you want.

thx! so gates require assembly table, which require lasers, which requires power. I'll be over shortly to borrow your table!

Wooden pipe didn't seem to work, maybe I do need the gate after all.
Anyone have a good spot for sniping endermen? I haven't seen any in my jaunts.

You need to power the wooden pipe, either a redstone engine or an autartic gate usually. The redstone engine doesn't require ender pearls. I build a stand in the desert for killing endermen. You stand on it at night and bait all the mobs to you.

You really don't need to make your own gates unless you are totally set on being self-sufficient. I have 6 in my Assembly Table chest from a setup I tore down and no longer need. Feel free to take a couple, I can just farm more pearls and make as many as I need in the future.
When I'm not online my power setup is running on 1/4 strength to conserve fuel, so the Assembly Lasers would be outrageously slow. If you still want to help out just drop off a few extra ender pearls and grab whatever gates you need.

Note: the deconstruction table at the grinder does not work on portal guns. I'm going to make a new bacon gun... look out endermen. (nevermind, it seems I misread the recipe. )
Something I scanned yesterday seems to have unlocked a whole bunch new aspects of thaum. Woo!

Polyphemus is experiencing some rather robust block lag right now, pretty sure it's not on my end. Seems something is gobbling up the server's tick rate.

yup. something is definitely odd on the server. I thought it was related to me having a chunk loader at my place so I turned that off and it seemed to clear things up. does anyone else have a chunk loader running anywhere? or possible a quarry going?
(fyi: server down for basic updates while I look into this. I'll post when it's back up)

ok, maintenance is done and the server is back up. it's still idling a bit higher than I would expect, but not as bad as when I checked sek's issue. can we do a quick check for chunk loaders and quarries not in use?

I've got a chunk loader at my base, and one at my lava pumping site in the nether. I'll build a lava tank and eliminate the loader in the nether because it's not really needed, maybe keeping the lava loaded is eating tick rate.

I've had the one loading 3 chunks at my base for a long time
portal gun portals act like chunk loaders

We ended up not really doing anything and the server calmed down, interesting about portal gun portals though. Do they just keep the chunk they are located in loaded?

it's really annoying to have something like that just 'go away'. sigh.
I suspect it has something to do with the chunk loaders, but I'm not entirely sure where or how.
oh well.

I'll check and see if I get booted off today.
So yeah, once you find gold, you find plenty:
Not sure what you're up to here cy... but I didn't dare venture down to see.
also interesting, in that "makes the room feel like it's tipping over" sense.
I hope too many chickens won't slow down the server...

Not so sure it was the chickens, last night after Blaze signed off the lag returned, I took a trip over to Andi's and there wasn't a single chicken still alive.

Since cy was inquiring about possible mod additions I took a look at the new DW list and picked out a couple contenders that wouldn't unbalance anything.
First off was Opis, the admin tool I mentioned useful for finding chunks and tile entities that are eating up tick rate, helpful for our current problems. Waila (what am I looking at?) does what it says on the box. Every block you look at will display its name and what mod it's from, along with other useful info. I don't know a ton about Thaumic Tinkerer past it adds some insanely hard-to-craft end game items for Thaumcraft along with a few other bits and bobs. I'm pretty sure OpenBlocks was the mod that gave you trouble at first and Extra Utilities I think is one we haven't tried yet, and adds a lot of very useful things you never thought you needed, like the builders wand. Thermal Expansion would be a pretty useful mod as well as it adds a lot of machinery. Also I miss Energy Cells from the DW server for using the Filler.

Blaze, do you use your potato gun? I've discovered I read the portal gun recipe incorrectly. So yeah, not building one. I used the potato gun to move some critters, and accidently triggered it.
