Who wants to customize Growl displays with CSS? We have a minimal plugin as of now that can do it, but I need to know what kind of things you guys want to be able to do.

Transparency seems to be working pretty well.

It will not happen until .7, and that will take a while before it is released.

how about an option to make it as small as you like or as large as you like. maybe display only a song name and the artist in growltunes or the file name downloaded and that is all, no icon for the browser or the extra info that is in there. just minimal would be a nice addition.

Ok, so you want:

- Ability to set size
- Ability to toggle icon
- Ability to only show parts of the notification

Did I summarize that to what you said?

So this would kinda be a webkit display? If so, that might lead other neat features. (Easy Animated icons would be one, Gifs) hmmm

I would much enjoy the ability to create my own Growl bubbles with CSS.

They are css, and you aren't even limited to bubbles

Pretty sure size can be set through CSS. Someone has made one which is larger than I'd use but is way cool.

Toggle icon is allowed.

Not sure on the last for now

Make it easy to modify them? A more complete preference I guess. Or how about allowing it to show either the artist, album, song name, time of song, number of song, last played, times played, genre. Things like an id3 tagger does but to display these items instead. Like iTunes has them in each of their columns have checkboxes to choose which ones your would like to show. Ummm. maybe have scrolling text, text that comes on for 10 seconds goes off and comes back like every once and a while. maybe show what the next song will be with like 5-10 seconds remaining on the current song. I will think of more later.

See, now you've gone and lost the point of Growl. Growl is designed to display the information that an aplication sends it. GrowlTunes on the other hand is the application that would need to e modified. If you could make a ticket on htt://trac.growl.info/trac by clicking new ticket in the top right for this, we can look into it for GrowlTunes, but Growl will not have id3 tag specific settings itself.

I've emailed the author long ago asking for bpe to use Growl, and got a positive response. The best way to get applications themselves to have support is to email the author. The more people who email the higher the priority. This is true of any application.

If you want Growl in any app, just contact the author, be nice, and they will take notice. Most developers are friendly and willing to look into something if it will benefit their customers/users.

Alright, here's the deal. This all can change (i.e. some things in your plugin can break if you make a style).

You can download the beta at http://growl.info/beta.html

It has networking and a status icon and all sorts of neat stuffs. Also, there is a webkit style system in place as well.
The webkit style howto for Growl is at http://growl.info/documentation/webkit.php

This is a screen shot from a friend a few days ago. He was just learning the style format so don't judge the screen shot that much.

The drop shadow problem is fixed in B4. You can have it optionally.

The spongebob on the right, and lcd, are both Growl displays made with Webkit.
