Yes, I'll see it.

Plus, I don't like the government telling me what I can and can't see.

Of course I'll see it. Why would I not see something so socially relevant, regardless of whether I agree with its politics?
It's the devil's way now.

For those who were curious:

The movie, which won the top honor at last month's Cannes Film Festival, was rated R for violent and disturbing images and for language." The movie's images include an Iraqi man tossing a dead baby into a truckload of bodies, Iraqis burned by napalm and a public beheading in Saudi Arabia.

Oh, so it's a quick beheading? I may be able to stomach it, then. It's those "saw the head of slow" beheadings that make me cringe.

The most humane method of execution, IMHO, involves squashing the person's head under a huge block. The essentially instant destruction of the nervous system leaves no time to feel pain. Only problem is that it's rather gruesome and gory.

It's the slow suffering I don't like.

I've convinced a few of my Republican friends to go ahead and see it, but God damn I never had to do so much convincing in my life. It's like I was asking them to cut off their arm.

I think that most conservatives and/or Republicans are saying they'll see it on DVD or TV so they can wait to the last possible second (if not until after the election) so that if Bush wins again, they can claim they saw the movie (and avoid whether or not they saw it before or after the election) and tout what was wrong with it and why it only strengthened Bush's position in Biblical hierarchy; or, if Bush loses, they can claim they saw the movie (avoiding whether or not they saw it before or after the election) and tout everything that was right about the movie and why Bush lost credibility and eventually the election.

That way they're safe no matter what happens and they can get a Republican back in office the following term because of their perfect judgment of character.

I'd like to see as many conservatives and/or Republicans go to the movie anyway and not wait. It's only $10. See it with some friends, make a night out of it. If you hate the movie, then you can go back to talking about your investment portfolios and buying a yaht for Chippy. If you like the movie, you can go back to talking about your investment portfolios, buying a yaht for Chippy, and donating $5 to Save the Children.

I didn't even realize it was out yet until my girlfriend said she wanted to see it. So I guess I'm going to see it, I was very impressed with Bowling for Columbine so we'll see how it goes.

If you're interested in the truth, rather than twisted partisan propaganda, you owe it to yourself to at least read an alternative point of view.

http://www.bowlingfortruth.com/

BTW, I'm politically left of centre, I just find it disturbing how so many people treat the output of an extremist like Moore as though it were somehow more credible than any other political propaganda.

Another good (and completely bi-partisan) information source is

From a film perspective, the movie is getting really good reviews...but even the "liberal" critics say that the propoganda is heavy handed.

I'm not a fan of Moore, but at least Bowling for Columbine had a lot of stuff to make one think and talk about the issues. This one sounds a bit too lopsided for me.

I don't like propaganda. Hence, I don't like Michael Moore. All he makes is propaganda, and I'm sick of one-sided viewpoints like his. He's a ****ing retard, and he can shove all his stupid one sided 'brainwashing the youth' films straight up his ass as far as I'm concerned.

Unless of course it's propaganda that fits your one-sided point of view.

I'll be seeing it next week. I've never seen either of his other movies.
