Update #3:
MCE Tech has 2gb modules for $99. That's $200 for 4 gigs and you don't have to send it your old ram or wait for rebates. The best deal is still in Update #2, but this is pretty close:

2GB Memory Module for MacBook Pro or iMac (Intel): MCE Technologies Online Store

Update #2:
Thanks to Rumor for posting this. $239 for 4 gigs at OWC:

4.0GB (2GB+2GB Kit) PC2-5300 DDR2 667MHz... (53IM2DDR4GBK) at OWC

Then, trade in your old ram for $50 at OWC:

Money Back Rebates available with purchase from OWC at OtherWorldComputing.com

Total for 4 gigs = $189. Save $561 over Apple!

Update #1:
Just found some G.Skill for $135 shipped on Newegg: (4gb = $270 = save $480 over Apple)

Newegg.com - G.SKILL 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Notebook Memory - Retail

Original Post:
Currently the best I've found is $334 (note that the new MBP uses 667mhz DDR2, not 800mhz). OWC (MacSales.com) sells a 3gb kit for the 13" MacBook that includes both a 1gb stick and a 2gb stick for $167. Buy two of those and voila, 4 gigs for $334. I'm sure you can sell the spare 2x1gb kit for at least $50, or re-use it in a Mac Mini or something. Here's the link:

3.0GB (1GB+2GB Kit) PC2-5300 DDR2 667MHz... (53IM2DDR3GBK) at OWC

The next cheapest I found was at Newegg, they have some Geil-brand for around $355. But OWC has the best deal so far. You save $416 by upgrading it yourself!

Thats a good price for that memory on newegg. I am pretty sure if you wait a couple of weeks you can get 4gb for around $200.

Oh sure. Although there might be a brief spike from the MBP buyers lol. I mean, I just bought 2 gigs of laptop ram from ZipZoomFly for $54 AR. It's ridiculous! I love market competition

How about $239?
I like my water with hops, malt, hops, yeast, and hops.

Has anyone here did the OWC deal from outside USA?
What I dont understand is why are they selling 4 gig deals when the MBP's come with 2 gigs already?
There are 2 slots only and you cant BTO a MBP with no ram.
Are they recommending that you buy their ram in pairs as they will run faster together if they are of the same brand compared to running 1x2gig OWC + 1x2gig Apple ram?

How can apple charge such dramatic prices for ram?

1. The current MBP comes with 2 gig of RAM as 2 x 1 GB sticks. Only two slots, so you have to replace all of it.

2. Apple has ALWAYS overcharged for RAM.
