Anyone have experience with having to replace the case of their newest type 17 Brick MBP? I dropped mine today and it dented the corner where the charger goes in.. it seems the charger still works but the ethernet port is bet badly the rest of the damage is more or less cosmetic, but from what I can see, the middle (or main) part of the case needs to be replaced.. any ideas?

The case itself will probably run you $250 or so. The major cost will be in the hours of labor that it will take to remove every component from the old case and transfer to the new case.

If it still charges and the ethernet port still works, I would just chalk it up to an "oops" and move on.

It does, but darn, this thing is like 2 months old and I'm just so OCD that prospect of starting at that dent for the next 3-4 years makes me not too happy..

The Apple store is telling me anywhere from $650-$1250 to fix it, but they want to see it...... I paid close to 4K for the computer, so its' just so darn unfortunate that I can't live with the dent. I'm sure if it was a couple of years old and worn a bit I'd feel different..

Thanks for the answer and input however.

Well, for the benefit of the future lurker who might search this thread topic...

The case is 3 parts..

-Screen enclosure .... $750
-Main body case w/keyboard .... $485
-Bottom plate .... $125

I opted to just replace the main body as the screen suffered only a tiny scratch.. $501 out the door at the apple store inside 6 hours..
