We've got a Ti 550 with the new style power adapter. The adapter gets incredibly hot, to the point of almost burning you. Is this normal or is there a problem with ours?

I think it's normal. If it's convenient, I recommend you go get it checked out at an Apple Store. Where do you live? If you're living in a country that has 220-volt power, don't worry about it. If it's burning-hot in the United States, you might be on to something.

Thanks Sean, I live in the San Diego area so I'll take it down to the Apple store soon. I'll let you guys know if they say it's normal or not.

I have the same issue with my Ti800's power adapter. It's not like it's going to melt or anyhting (knock on wood), but it's too hot to be "normal". Interested in what Apple says!

Todd, we'll definitely post here what we find out at the Apple store. Your description fits our experience perfectly. We probably won't get to Apple until sometime over the weekend, so it may be Monday before I find out.

Can you guess/measure the temperature of a certain part of your AC adapter? I'm going to get a PowerBook in the near future. I'll do the same... <img border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" title="" src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" />
