These are not from my machine. I do not have the GM. I just wasn't sure whether the person they were from would want their site URL posted.

Yes. It does appear to have the About This Mac box open... but we all know how easily that number is changed.

Although i suppose we will know for sure on the 24th, since some claim the final still has a build number in the about box, and others claim it does not.

What are you expecting? Since the About Box would just say 4K78 anyway, you'd immediately dismiss it as "not the GM".

Well, we don't know that these are from the GM but it seems to support the claim by another member who said that dragging an icon too far off the dock leaves the puff of smoke on the screen.

Ah, but you don't know that for sure. No ammount of screenshots will prove anything until everyone get's their own copy of OS X and opens the about box for themselves. Untill then, I say post the about box screen. We will know who was lying about the About Box come the 21st/24th.

That was a feature at the MWSF build...4K17 I think...

Looks good to me.

But why would "About" read "GM" ?? I may be out of my element here, but wouldn't a retail copy say "10.0" or something like that? Who the hell (other than everyone here) knows what GM stands for?

A fake of course
because a GM would not say 'Build GM' !!!
The guy just edited the system version plist file & replaced 4KXX by Gm
Tired of this

Note that I am not making any claims about it's authenticity. In fact I can't see anything in the pic itself that would leave me to believe it's actually GM. I simply posted the pic as per request.

If the ABOUT box says GM, why would Apple change it back to K78 instead of just writing 10.0? I'm not saying anyone was lying, I'm just saying that it's odd Apple would do that.

Well That was the dumbest screenshot I have ever seen

Apple would never put "GM" in there about box...LOL, if this was a joke...it was pretty funny! Hey, could someone post a shot of the "MacNN" build? I am sure there is one out there

Thanks for posting it.

Well. There you have it. We'll all know on the 21st/24th who was right and who was wrong (or if both sides were wrong).

Hell, I could make a build say "(Build Buck Futter)" just by editing the systemversion.plist file. Hell, I even have my copy of 4k73 edited to say GM, so it's not that hard.

I don't think leaving the build in is a bad thing. After all, how many people have seen the expanded version number of Win 95 (Windows 95 Version 4.123.2.34.234.3q6.w456345.673456.3456w). ;P

Then why, pray tell, is the terminal window exactly the same in your "real" shot as in the fake?

I was looking at the two first pictures. Anybody knows if the hard disk icon with a Windows XP logo is a fake thing too?

I did put the terminal window in a different position relative to the "About this Mac" window, though.
[edit] Oh yeah, the "About the Finder" window isn't there either.

That icon came from xicons.com. Go to http://xicons.macnn.com/disks.phtml
It is from the "Carlito Drives" icon set.
