Upload it to your web space and send your friend the link.

Put it into the Public folder of your iDisk and send your friend this link (with your actual MobileMe name):

http://public.me.com/yourmobilemename

If the file is private and nobody else must be able to download it, use iChat file transfer instead. In the future file sharing is supposed to become easier with MobileMe and I think a password protected download was planned as well.

The easiest way for me to transfer large files is through iChat. You and your friend must be signed into iChat (or if your friend doesn't have a Mac, they can use AIM). Then, from the menubar, choose "Buddies" then "Send File."

If your friend uses Windows, I find Skype (Mac) --> Skype (Windows) works really well for file transfers, better than iChat (Mac) --> AIM (Windows).

My favourite, though, is using Filechute which integrates with .Mac (MobileMe) and allows you to easily upload files, compress them on the fly, password-protect the files and gives you a short URL all at once. Nice.
