Is there anyway to only play a sing song in an iTunes playlist and not have the next song automatically start playing? Thanks

I suppose it would do that if you had every song unchecked. That's the only way I can think of.

Or, you can make a new playlist, and have it be the only song in it. Then, if you wish, you can even have just that song loop endlessly.

Gee, I hope they're friendly..........

i have some similar gripes about iTunes. I want an on-the-go playlist or a now playing temporary playlist that I could use in a similar manner.
my solution is just to search for that song in my library, narrowing it down so that it's the only song showing in search results, then play it from there. it will stop when finished

Wow, that was exactly what I needed. Had about 5 songs I needed to play on demand, but not continue on to the next song. So simple, thanks!

Right, but I had about 5 songs I needed to be able to play on demand (ie, all in the same playlist) but didnt want them to continue playing in order. Just had to uncheck them all, only plays one without goin to the other

Make five playlists, one song in each, then put them in a folder. Click the playlist, hit the spacebar.

or you could search for the songs in a way that the one you want to play is the only one that shows up. that works.

or you could have them all in 1 play list for easy access, and uncheck them all so it does not roll over.
