My local shop is getting rid of them for $5. Is it risky to use one of those iPod mini lanyards?

I've worn my nano by it's laynard every day for about 6 months now. It's never done anything risky.

Thanks. I bought a couple, one for myself and one for my niece. It seems quite strong. They also had the mini dock for 5 bux too, but I don't really need one.
This is at Carbon Computing in Toronto.
