Not a political question (so I hope this doesn't go to the poli lounge) and I'm not even interested in what party you may or not vote for.
Since this is election day in the US, will you vote, and if you choose not too, why not?

I haven't voted since I left the States. I'm still technically a resident of Washington, DC. Seeing that there is no representation in Congress for DC residents it really doesn't matter much. I don't really care about the local elections.
And why on earth wasn't this a poll?

Seems like an obvious poll (to vote in).

I vote because I am from a small town and it's incredibly quick and painless. There are rarely more than 3 or 4 people in line.
Really though, there just aren't any candidates I can truly support. Ever. If I had to deal with lines and traffic I probably wouldn't bother.

Local elections in Colorado are a joke, generally each candidate is very, very similar in terms of outlook and who backs them. You really only pick the party that you want.

I'm one of those crazy people who just votes for the President.
At this point I just want the campaigning to STOP!! If anyone is familiar with Linda McMahon (formerly of the WWE) is running for (Connecticut) Senate, and I swear I get at least one piece of mail from her a day, hear her on the radio and see the commercials constantly. I considered voting just so I could vote against her.

To help fill out the thread.
I'll be voting, does it matter, I dunno, but I do try to do my part and voice my opinion, by voting.

Your (CTs) own fault for not voting for Peter Schiff in the GOP primaries.

I'm horrible at paying attention to local politics (and I already voted in the mayoral primary de facto election), so no.

If you've ever heard any of the legends of Louisiana politics, you'll know that it's especially important to get out and vote in Louisiana. Our state has a history of voting in absolute wackos.
I believe we had a period of time in which 11 straight state insurance commissioners were imprisoned after leaving office.

OT, I vote, but I have good your vote doesn't count stories from being an election judge. The best was when we had more ballots than signed certificates declaring people had voted. The solution (after an hour of wrangling with the election board)?
Put all the ballots in a bag.
Pull out the number of ballots we were long.
Don't count those.
Tangentially related, each party would drop by food for us. I didn't vote based on which party gave me a donut, and which party gave me a giant bucket of fried chicken and biscuits, but I was tempted.

I did a mail in ballot. Got to vote two weeks before anyone else, avoid the lines, avoid missing work, overall a great way to vote.

Like most other states, there's a number of ballot questions and the biggest question on it for us is vote on reducing the sales tax from 6.25 to 3.xx%
Personally, I can't see any good coming from reducing the sales tax that much, since it will impact local aid, schools and everything else. Let me put it another way, we are fiscally solvent and viable. Cutting the sales tax in half is going to be disastrous economically. Besides, living in taxachusetts, they'll just slap another tax or "fee" on us.

"Yes, but I'm not sure it matters"
I have no hesitation to identify myself as a Socialist. I think the Democrats have squandered a once in a lifetime opportunity to drag the country kicking and screaming toward becoming a total social state. But I'm an Oklahoma resident. So I'd might as well write-in for Captain Kirk.

Yes, I vote. But I don't like ANY of the candidates, on either side. It always comes down to "who is the lesser of two evils?"

I'm fairly certain no amount of voting will ever change my day-to-day life, but I still do it so I can complain as much as I want about the results.
Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

Just write someone in. Tim Lincecum will probably get one or two votes for CA Governor today.

That fact is in competition with you in terms of overall homosexuality.

(You’d think that’d be even more the case with pubic polls)
