Fider/View/Show View Options - and then just cheek the 'Show Items Info' cheek box.

Keep in mind, though, that there's an ongoing bug in Finder that Apple has never fixed (even though it's been around for several years) that never lets the item info refresh itself unless you restart your computer. Showing the item info is useless because it will be out of date immediately.

Apple will never fix this issue, at least judging by how long they've let it continue without fixing it. So don't bother using the option as it'll give you the wrong information.

Don't need to restart. You can log off and back on, use a third-party app such as TinkerTool that lets you quit the Finder from the dock or do a Force Quit/Relaunch on the Finder.

Either way, it's still a big hassle considering the size is reported correctly in every other case... you can check using Disk Utility, the Get Info window, or by simply looking at an open Finder window. I don't know why OS X uses a different method for updating the disk info as displayed under the icon.

In the terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal) type

defaults write com.apple.finder QuitMenuItem -bool true;killall Finder

Then you can just hit command Q to quit the finder.
