He's basically driven Toronto's already-struggling right-wing political movement into the ditch at full speed

You almost would believe the full story if you read it.

When the story first appeared in The Toronto Star and Gawker, I had no doubt in my mind it was true. Rob Ford behaved like a guilty man by refusing to answer questions, hiding from the media, firing staffers without public explanation, and being a whiny b!tch non-stop.

The worst of it isn't that he was smoking crack or hanging out with shady people, it's the way he characterized the issue as a witch hunt, demonizing "the media" and "the left wingers" as if they were the only ones with a concern about what was going on in the mayor's office.

And now, he still refuses to address the media or answer any questions. And his lawyer is behaving like a twit as well, claiming "we can't know it was crack he was smoking," as if anyone in their right mind would believe he might be smoking tobacco or pot from a crack pipe. :roll eyes:

Why doesn't he just admit to taking crack, but that he no longer is?

Rob Ford is the type of man who never admits a mistake until he's embarrassed with hard proof.

BTW, Ford and his brother broadcast a weekly radio show every Sunday, and tonight he's planning some kind of big announcement. I wouldn't be surprised if he announces that he's stepping down "for the good of the city."

There won't be an apology, he won't admit to lying, he won't admit to anything, he'll just claim the legal "persecution" is making it hard to be mayor. He'll bash the liberals, the leftists, and the media as usual.

Just look at the last time Ford was caught in a lie about drug and alcohol abuse, and you'll see how he plans to handle things: Rob Ford to Miami cop: 'Take me to jail' - Toronto - CBC News

There's an unfortunate rumor going around that there's a second Rob Ford video in police hands. A sex video. With a very young-looking girl.

There's a reddit thread about it: Second Rob Ford video an alleged sex video : toronto

And a columnist at the Toronto Star says:
But wait. There are two videos, (police chief) Blair revealed at his shocking press conference.

What’s on the other one? Are we not to know? Because a few reporters have already been told by sources what its contents might be.

If true, believe me, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

http://www.thestar.com/news/crime/20...eo_reveal.html
I was giddy when the crack story came out. But I hope this other story isn't true.

BTW, the police have requested an interview with Rob Ford. So far, he has refused to talk to them. Which is not surprising, since he refuses to talk to anyone who isn't a "Ford Nation" bootlicker.

Rob Ford apologizes for 'mistakes' but won't step down - Toronto - CBC News

First rule of making an admission: be specific. Telling people you "made mistakes" is just being insincere. (At least he didn't say "mistakes were made.")

Both Ford and his lawyer have said this, and both should know better. The chief can't release the video evidence without court approval, as it's relevant to the case against Sandro Lisi. Ford knows this, and he's trying to fool people and garner false sympathy.

And do everyone a favour: don't presume to lecture the police chief on "the right thing to do."

The mayor said the video should be released, so that "whatever this video shows… people need to judge for themselves what they see on this video."
Hey Rob, how about you tell us what YOU think about this video.

"I’m going to do my very best to make sure these mistakes don’t happen again. And I don’t know what else to say."
I and everyone else know exactly what you need to say:

"I did/did not smoke crack from a crack pipe. And I apologize/have no reason to apologize."

We don't know yet. Rumour has it, it's a sex video. Personally, I don't think that's the case. I don't think women, of any age, are his weakness. Drugs, booze and power on the other hand...

There's no mechanism in Canadian municipal politics for removing someone for being a lying douche-canoe. If it doesn't hold up in court, it may as well not exist.

You Americans might need to sit down for this. Ready? Here goes....

There are no party politics in Toronto. There are no primaries, there are no party candidates. You vote for ROB FORD, not ROB FORD - CONSERVATIVE.

As far as I'm aware, most of Canadian municipal politics functions in much the same way.

That's not to say candidates aren't easily identified as small-c conservatives, or small-l liberals, or whatever. But there is no "machine," and no party "base" to suck up to.

Yes, it's awesome.

Yes, there are fellow small-c conservatives pressuring Ford to step down. In fact, every paper in Canada, including the conservative National Post and Toronto Sun, are demanding he step down.

And how's this for theatre-of-the-absurd:

http://www.thestar.com/news/city_hal...nst_mayor.html

The police chief should step down over a video of the mayor smoking a crack-pipe? The fnck?

For outsiders: Mayor Rob Ford is the Fredo of the family, while his brother Doug is Sonny.

“I wasn’t lying. You didn’t ask the correct questions.”

Toronto politics is now a text adventure game from the DOS era.

“I don’t even remember. Probably in one of my drunken stupors. You guys have seen the state I’ve been in.”

I'm not a crack addict. I'm not an alcoholic. But I do drink enough alcohol to make me smoke crack and not remember doing it."

"Never" has become "once." Pretty soon, we'll move up to "occasionally" and then "often."

"I smoked crack in one of my drunken stupors, you guys know how many times I have drunken stupors"

Hmmm

Maybe the crack isn't the substantial problem here........

A raging alcoholic mayor, is no better than a crackhead mayor imho.

I hate Ford mainly because he almost single handedly destroyed Toronto Pride a few years ago. No city funding, The mood sucked, and it wasn't festive at all. Worst Pride ever.
