If the date and time go back to 1956, could there be another reason other than a dead battery?
I'm trying to help a friend with a b&w G3, which will no longer boot and displays the question mark folder icon at startup. Probably unrelated but a message on the (formac) monitor says something like 'both input signals are missing off mode will be enabled' upon startup. (this message has been there for a very long time) Tried to run Norton on this disk and there were many major errors, boot blocks etc, it froze often during nortons repair, force quit didn't work and several restarts still didn't fix it. I have told them to replace the battery, and the hard drive is clearly going to require some serious attention, but before they bought/installed it I was wondering if there other possible reasons, ie if the boot blocks were so corrupted or the ram was incorrectly installed..
Thanks in advance.
