this should be out next week sometime.

it was in the unsanity contest but didn't do very well...so i said screw it.

however it has gone thru major refinements and such over time.

i have used it constantly for months and is very useable even in photoshop.

there are three other variations.

KROMEX

this pic doesn't really do it justice. but it's a pic and not a bbx.

to me the beauty is when it's on the desktop...

as for those who don't like metal...

Looks a lot better than it used to be. If this was how it was during the contest, I wouldn't have been surprised if it had won.

That looks great, I'm looking forward to using it on my powerbook. I'm also curious to see the different variations.

I love metal. I'm not too sure how I like the "gel" things in the menus, but it does look much nicer than it did for the contest.

The "gel things" in the menus are what makes it appealing to me. Otherwise it'd be Just Another Metal Theme(tm). Looks very interesting. Can't wait to give it a try!

Really like the blue "gel" parts in the menus...I dunno...spices it up a bit. I just wish you'd toss those into the buttons or the titlebars as well since they seem a bit dull to me.

Awesome! (I'm a huge fan of the original Kromex)

The window titlebars are ever-so-slightly too "heavy" for my taste, but the menu bar rocks. I can't wait to try out a version with the added "gel" in the menu bars.

Feature request: can you do something to spiff up the close/minimize/maximize widgets? Maybe "gel" them up too?

Well the thing is that the "gel" elements seem to be only in the menu bar, so they seem out of place for the rest of the theme... and I'm just not sure if I like them or not.

this is very good suggestion - in my view... perhaps even make it the rollover state?
metal -----> then "gel"

Oh sh** there I go again running my mouth off.

Nice work, quandarry, I like all the changes you made to the look overall.

I wouldn't expect myself to like the gel, but you pulled it off very well. I can't wait to see the other variations and the release! Good work.

since macdog thinks KROMEX looks just like AlumiteX i've decided to place it's release

on permanent hiatus.

i had to look up and download AlumiteX to compare the two.

the result...

KROMEX vs. AlumiteX

therefor as macdog implies 'do we really need another pretender'? he thinks not.

@quandarry, will you actually try and answer one or two of my questions this time ?

Will there be any updates to Metallika ?

Have you considered working more on the Systronic theme that you showcased a while back ? And maybe release it ?

btw. I like this new theme a great deal. Will this come out. Or are you pulling a BBX ? (don't quote your first post. I know what you wrote there)

But hey, if you really want to kill your theme, far be it from me to beg you not to.

Great theme, except for the scroll widgets and wells. They look cheesy.

*bump* C'mon, don't leave us hanging. Any word on a(n updated) release date?

Or were you serious about the "permanent hiatus"? (I hope not!)

Kromex Vs Alumite.

Kromex wins hands down IMO. Even if people do bemoan that it looks like Alumite I would say yours is far better. Release it now GODDAMMIT.

I dig it!

To dislike Sinatra is a sign of highly questionable taste. To dislike the Beatles is a serious character flaw.

Sadly, I don't think it's likely at this point. quandarry seems to have been turned off by others' criticism. Besides, it seems that very few people on this board ever finish anythi

And it's comments like the one Mighty Mike T said that keep a lot of the themes for coming to the public eye. I'm not saying that MMT is to blame, but the large masses of this forum that don't make anything, but are ever so greedy... Just chaps my ass....

Well, that certainly is a shame if that's the reason the theme has not been made public. Hopefully my request/support of it isn't seen as being "greedy," I just think it was a nice job. There's no question about the "tension" between members that exists on the GUI forum... Seems silly to me.

Oh well...

No offense intended. I was trying to make a (bad) joke about the unfinished projects so often announced on this board (hence my own unfinished sentence). I certainly appreciate the hard work involved in making decent themes, and I know that I certainly don't have the talent to do so. My own lack of contributions supports that fact. Greed has nothing to do with it. It's just frustrating to see a teaser, followed by... nothing.

The point of my reply was that, for whatever reason, quandarry seems to have decided not to release the new version of Kromex. I'm as disappointed as any of you at that; Kromex and Metallika (another quandarry product) are among my favorite themes. If you look at my previous posts on the subject, I've always tried to give positive or constructive feedback. I don't recall ever telling anyone that his (or her) theme sucks, if it just happens not to be my cup of tea. There are some people like that who frequent this forum, but please don't lump me in with them.

If a version is ever released, how about flattened out
menubars to reduce that 'naff' looking roll-bars look.
