This is the first game that makes use of CoreImage. The effects (shockwaves/ripples when you destroy bosses and other various effects) are simply stunning. The game also captures your photo for your pilot file as well as score with iSight (and of course, the usual CoreImage filter options on top of the photo, just like Photo Booth, is offered.)

Freeverse is a company that makes me proud to be a Mac user. They make use of all the latest OS X technologies *and* actually put out some high quality material. It's one thing to use the tech but if you can't make the game fun, nothing will make the game good. WingNuts is fun to play and addictive (whenever you can 'upgrade' stuff in games, I get hooked...)

edit: oh...and of course, it handles widescreen and 4:3 screens perfectly...I'm guessing Freeverse will strike a deal with Apple to bundle this thing on every Mac. If iMacs and iBooks had this game on the HD out of the box, it might change a few minds on the viability of gaming on Macs.

edit 2: and another thing...I love 2D games...it's unfortunate that 3D games have taken the market by storm because this game shows how 2D games can look amazing.

Does anyone know any cheat codes?

I'm such a hardcore gamer, I can't get past level 5.

I played it and it "Unexpectedly Quit" on me every time I started a new game. I certainly wont buy a game like that.
signatures are a waste of bandwidth
especially ones with political tripe in them.

You can adjust the difficulty in mid-campaign. I had to do this to beat level 13; it's completely impossible on normal difficulty, but it was simple once I dropped it down.

I can install it from the DMG on my Dual 1GHz G4/1.5GB/Geforce4 MX and I see the screen telling me how many launches I have left, but it beach balls after that and I have to force quit. I've re-downloaded a couple times but to no avail. Anyone else have this problem?

I certainly hope this game received enough attention and good sales. It doesn't seem like so from my view

Level 13 is impossible to win with only 2 planes. There are too many factors working against you. The graphics are waaaaaaay too busy. I can't hardly see my plane! Plus, when you are firing your plane slows down to become a sitting duck! Real genius. Compound frustration does NOT equal entertainment. Otherwise, I've enjoyed this game thus far.
