I persuaded my sister to switch and she's loving the mac so far. But there has been a glitch. I set up a user account for her kids (own dock with education software and so on). Somehow their account has become corrupted. Apple support said it's corrupted, but they were not able to figure out how to delete that account (she set up a new account for the kids). Any ideas how to delete the account? by the way, she was trying to delete while logged in as the administrator (herself). Didn't try to delete while logged in as root. What about booting in OS 9 and just deleting the "kids" folder in the users folder?
If it were me, I would try moving that 'kids' folder into the trash from 9.x and see what happens. If X complains, you could always move it back. I'm not expert, but if the account is already corrupt, I don't know if it would do any harm.
