Hi all: I've done this before -- and I can never remember how -- but now I'm stumped. I have an Epson C82. The ink light is flashing but I absolutely cannot get the software (Epson printer utility) to go from configuring, etc., to the screen that will indicate ink levels. This always bugs me, I'm usually able to eventually get it (bringing all to front, I think) but am unable to do so. Any help from anyone?

And I've gotten to the point where I think Epsons stink. Certainly, they're not very OSX friendly. And Epson is the only kind of printer I've ever had.

The Epson printer utility lets you check the ink levels, and that should be somewhere on your hard drive. Probably in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder. Or something like that - I'm not in front of my Mac right now so I'm going by memory.

There's a way to do it from the print center, but it's kind of counter-intuitive. 9 times out of 10 I just wind up switching to the Finder and searching for applications with "EPSON" in the name.

Mine hasn't really given me any problems like that...it's able to check the ink levels all the time. That 'bring all to front' trick makes it sound like it's a problem with the window not knowing it's supposed to be in the foreground, so you can't hit the 'Ink Levels' button? Is that anywhere near correct?

In the print center select the epson printer, and hit the configure button. You should get head cleaning and ink checking options from there.

Thank you! I had forgotten the "configure" step -- and even then, at first all I get is the printer list. It's not until I hit "OK" on that, that the ink levels and head cleaning screen shows up.

Whoever said the process was not very intuitive is right on the money.

But thanks again -- as I'd said, I knew I could do it -- eventually -- but was having trouble remembering the various steps.

Another way would be to use the "EPSON Printer Utility" alias that gets put in your Applications folder (it should have been, at least). The real file is in /Library/Printers/EPSON/Utilities/EPSON Printer Utility.

I didn't get an alias installed. I wonder what happened?
