So the other day I remember reading about Apple introducing a program where you pay $100 and you get a new iPod battery. Rip-off, I thought. The next day my iPod's battery crapped out on me! Do you think this is a coincidence, or did they time the launch of this battery program to coincide with expected life of the first gen iPod battery? Anybody have any thoughts?
I'm probably just going to buy a new iPod. Someday.

My thought is: as with all Apple services, it's not available in the UK, so you'll have to buy a new iPod anyway.

Every time you sync your iPod, your Mac sends your statistics to Apple. Then Apple computes the time to sell batteries for optimal revenue.
If I were Apple, I'd do it that way

Well, they offer the service when some people's battereis start to crap out. Mine is fine, a little less vital than before, but I'd imagine it's going to need replaceemnet before the end of the year.

Yes, that would be a wonderful idea now... But that would be too easy.
