I found this in a list of known issues with the most recent Leopard release (9A343):
- Disconnecting from your network while connected to servers may hang your machine

Even though this doesn't happen to me often, it's one of my biggest frustrations with OS X. Even OS 7.5 would just give you an immediate message stating that the server went down, and you could get on with your life.

all network connectivity type stuff with the Finder seems to just work like ass in terms of performance and graceful multitasking.

i need my desktop cause i have more room there than on my real desk...

but seriously, no way will the finder be changed without an option to turn it back to the current finder. like how clicking the top right button on a finder winder to switch from one window view and many window view...

maybe a peek in a *possible* new way the finder 2 might, might look is in the state of the union of osx video on itunes....

there is a demo of core animation with controls flying around...not my cup of tea but neat
