I went looking for the difference between XP Home and Pro and I found this site:
http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase...p_home_pro.asp

"Multi-processor support - Windows XP Pro supports up to two microprocessors, while Home Edition supports only one."

I have a MBP C2D and it would be a waste to not take advantage of the second processor.

I would really like to know. If it's true, I'll buy XP Pro.

Thanks

Core 2 Duo has two cores in one processor. Vista Home supports both cores (or 4 cores on a quad core/single socket machine).

So...buy the Home or Pro? I want the maximum performance when I run XP on the MBP.

Thanks again

Home will take advantage of both cores fine. Save yourself $100.
Linkinus is king.

Oops, well, the answer is the same. Microsoft licenses by the processor socket, not the number of cores.
So if you don't need the other Pro features, you can save $50 with Home.

My only other concern is security. Is Home that susceptible to viruses and malware? I will be doing "some" internet usage when I run XP. Or, should I just save the cash with Home and buy some anti-virus software? Suggestions?

ALL versions of Windows are susceptible to viruses. You definitely need to run some anti-virus software!

I'm running the free AVG anti-virus and the free Spybot Search & Destroy.
