Dec 2015 was the last time we got more than 3" of snow until last Monday when we got 5-8". I finally had to pull the snowblower out of the basement for the first time this year.

We have had some snow, but then it rains. Rollercoaster weather. Not great for skiing.

Well, I'm underwhelmed with the Chicago snow.
Probably got 8" in the NW burbs.

I want my money back.

Its just tediously cold here. Probably not as cold as you lot, but then I have no heating so it sucks. No snow here in a couple of years I think. Maybe more.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

It hit 50 today in Indy. Tomorrow, the high is supposed to drop to 29 with either a frozen mix or snow. On the positive side, pitchers and catchers report next week.

I scooped it, if that counts as enjoying. The 5yo loves playing in the snow, he'll throw snowballs or shovels full of snow at my back while I snowblow.

We had it about 50 miles out. I’m sure it would have made it here if Lake Michigan was cooler.

Percent chance of white Christmas, though I would have reversed the gradient.

50/50 for Chicago matches my experience.

Bullshit chart. just look at the southern states, it doesn’t make sense at all.

E.g. southern Virginia. They get a snow dusting once or twice a year. How can that make it a 50% chance?
Look at Florida. Impossible.

Woops! I misread your post.

The race map got posted* as a joke, and since I’m a dolt, I fell for it.

We were supposed to get a frozen mix overnight. The road crews even put down de-icer. Right now, though, it’s 41 and possible rain.

That's because you are in the warm south of Chicago.

Dark Sky currently projects -26F at 7:00am on Wednesday morning at O'Hare.
That's only 1F warmer than measured all time record low (1985, IIRC).

With windchill, it's going to be -54F.

Out in the burbs, it gets even colder.

Meanwhile, down here in the balmy climes SE of Chicago (i.e. Indy) we're looking at -11 at 7am Wednesday (wind chill -30) Practically board shorts and t-shirt weather, eh? Kowabunga!

Not necessarily.

Weatherbug predicts -14F for the low at O’Hare and is sticking with -17F for the city.

It could happen, but -54 sounds like bullshit at those temps. I buy -40, though.

Mind you, -54F was WITH windchill.

Yes.

I’m saying it won’t be windy enough to drop -17F to -54F. It’ll be more like -17F to -40F.

Was able to get the windows totally closed this year, so I don’t have a giant block hanging off the window, but the combo of metal frames and a radiator underneath them makes for some frosty conditions.
