i recently had this show up on my display
picture of display oddity
I thought it was a cluster of dead pixels, however.. they move if I change resolution, and if I drag a window or something across them, it will actually create a vapour trail effect.
Any idea what this is? I don't think its any physical defect, since it moves and I can take a screen shot of it, but I can't get rid of it!

If the artifacts move when you change resolution, it sounds like a problem with your VRAM, and since PBs don't have a separate video card, that would be a motherboard issue... I guess it's also possible that a connection to the display could do this, a broken ribbon cable or loose connector would be a lot easier to fix than a board problem. Good luck.

What's kind of odd is that during boot up it's not there. During the apple screen its clean, but once the desktop shows up, they show up.
This just showed up last night, and now that I think of it, it showed up shortly after I ran all the ilife app updates that came out..

It looks like a videocard issue. Most likely bad video RAM or an overheating videocard.

Cool! It looks like sub-pixel failures!
