Mary Tyler Moore passed away, she was 80

Mary Tyler Moore, beloved TV icon who symbolized the independent career woman, dies at 80 - LA Times

Many remember her from the ground breaking Mary Tyler Moore Show from the 70s, the first woman to have her own show.
Of course she was also on the Dick Van Dyke show in the 60s.

rest in peace Mary.

Carol Burnett's show started in '67.

But still, I used to watch MTM and Rhoda every week, and it was on at 4am while I was building radios.

2017 is off to a very 2016 start.
Sad news. I grew up watching Dick VanDyke and then loved the MTM show. She was a very sharp comedic actress.

I'll just leave this here...

I almost forgot there was a Lou Grant show which did well, but the story is that CBS killed it because of Ed Asner's politics.

Am I remembering right in that it wasn't a comedy?

It wasn't. Nor did they reference any of the main characters from MTM.
