So August 21 the US gets a total solar eclipse. For those who have to be elsewhere and just want to see what it looks like (Not the actual eclipse but what it looks like outside) there is a Live RailCam in Missouri that has a HD feed looking both ways down the tracks. They will have a 99.1 percent eclipse there.

moved because eclipses are cool. In the NE we're not going to get much of a good view. Thanks for the link!

I don't trust NASA scientists, they use sloppy science.

Got my proper ISO-rated welding mask ready! Also, watch out for your kids. This may seem obvious, but kids will find a way to do dumb things if they're unsupervised, because... well... they're kids.

Watching weather trends its less than a 50-50 shot for most of the east coast. Looks like overcast with a big chance of thunderstorms.

NASA HQ is out again. They've given away over 3000 pairs this week!

The article I saw, I'll try looking for it, claims that as much as 90% of Chinese "eclipse glasses" being sold under the table (and on ebay) don't meet the ISO ratings they claim. Some laughably fall short. The ones that look like cardboard 50s 3D movie theater glasses are almost universally bad (I'm talking about the knock-offs, not the ones actually made by reputable companies).

Lagunitas gave out 500 today.

The line was 1500 deep before they opened.

I think the plan was people who didn't get one might buy beer instead.

It's actually not too bad here... clouds are working as a natural pair of glasses.

In DC it was about 82%. As I left work at 2:44PM their was light but the sun wasn't projecting much heat. 1st time walking to my car in the afternoon I didn't think I was going to burst into flames. It was partly cloudy here. Lots of people sharing glasses in front of NASA HQ.

The most shocking eclipse on Monday. Super-seriously NSFW!! ---> https://twitter.com/LukeMaher4/statu...85950447648769

For real, don't click on that if body parts offend you.

I got to see it - with approved glasses - yesterday. Awesome. My iPhone picture (with the approved glasses) was less stunning than subego's. But WOW that was very cool.
