Hello,
my iPhone 5c - after the battery was empty and the screen was black - stopped restarting. Recharging doesn't help. Any hints? I tried to find a support page, but it seems to be difficult. One year old. Carefully handled.
Now what?
Greetings,
PeterParker

The dumbest thing about USB charging is that you need a tiny bit of remaining charge to be able to charge at all, as the electronics need to handshake and agree upon a charging rate. (Sooo many “dead” iPods back in the early Windows-compatibility era that could be instantly revived simply by connecting them to FireWire — which doesn’t have that limitation — for a few seconds...)
If the problem is that the battery is completely discharged:
You can build up a slight charge by briefly connecting and then disconnecting the charger from the phone a few dozen times (it will apply a voltage briefly — a fraction of a second — before the failed handshake will shut it down). Often, this will raise the initial voltage just enough to jump-start the phone.
Might be worth making an appointment at the nearest Apple Store anyway, though: Apple has dropped the price of battery replacement to 29€ for the next year. Take the offer.
