i'd like to record onto my nano - it'd be voice-recording mainly, and there's likely to be considerable background noise. two questions:
1. can i record using the nano - what extras do i need - i assume i need some sort of microphone and another device to plug in? - and are there different options - differnt things i could plug in that may give me different quality recording
2. how would the ipod plus extra compare to other small portable recording devices- in terms of quality - (my main concern is the device picking out the closer, louder voice against background noises clearly.)

thanks

Impossible. Even the iPodLinux guys attest that there's no recording hardware in the Nano.
Get a MobiBlu player instead. It is smaller and supports recording out of the box. The quality will depend mostly on the microphone. I can't give you advise about microphones.
