2-3db higher is sigfinicant enough that I would most likely venture towards the IBM drive. Regardless, the main factor for me will be power consumption.

Where is the link that says it's going in the iBook? I didn't see anything on that page.

Perhaps my choice of wording was somewhat ambiguous. The impetus is that due to the constraints of the iBook packaging, only a 9.5mm drive will fit. Currently, no 5400rpm 9.5mm drive exists.

Won't there be a heat issue, going up to 5400? I remember when I added a 100GB drive to my original iMac DVSE, I was told that going to 7200 would make it too hot inside. Is there less of a heat increase when you go from 4200 (or whatever the current is) to 5400?

Thanks,
Josh

I've had a 7200 HD running in my DVSE400 for over 6 months with no problems.
Don't know much about the iBook though. I only ordered mine 5 days ago.

It doesnt say that it'll go in the iBook, but it WILL fit inthe ibook's internal HD bay.
