Rules? The Republicans dont follow no stinking rules.

The race in MN between Michele Bachman and Patty Wetterling is among the toughest in the US. To date President Bush has been here twice helping Bachman raise funds, Dick Cheney has been here once, Karl Rove has been here once and Dennis Hastert has been here once. Today Laura Bush will come for a Bachman fundraiser.

So, with all that, why do they go out and break the law? Can't they just molest some kids?

So you're blaming ONE church pastor's views of endorsement of a GOP candidate on the entire GOP?

And your comment about them going out and "molesting kids" is classic liberal-speak and a sick thing to say. More proof that democrats "ain't right in de head" as they say down here in the South.

Clearly it's not all Republicans who are represented by this action. However, we do have one candidate who's perfectly willing to break the law. That speaks volumes given that she's had Bush, Cheney, Rove and Hastert stumping for her over the past few months.

Finally, I'm not a Democrat or a liberal. I'm fiercely moderate. For example, I'm proud to say I remained a resident of New York long enough to vote against Hillary Clinton -- a vote I'm quite proud of. That same year I voted for Bush -- a vote I'm ashamed of.

The Kool-Aideā„¢ drinkers on both side of the aisle are so full of their parties that they don't see that some of us -- a majority in some parts of the US -- aren't stupid enough to blindly follow party lines.

As for the 'south' I believe that you hick folk should be sold to Mexico.

Um, you may label yourself "fiercely moderate" and you may actually believe you are, but your posting history here suggest an entirely different *ahem - liberal* position.

And no one in the South cares what you think. As a matter of fact, in my travels I've met more "hicks" in the North than the South.

The answer to your original question in the thread title has already been answered, but the Republicans would have to drop several fathoms in order to look the Democrats in the eye.

In 1994 I was in Batesville, Mississippi on business -- a focus group to be exact. Afterward we mingled with the respondents and a man came over to me and a colleague. He grabbed our arms, pulled us to the corner and went into what would be best described as a sermon of racial slurs. He told us about how there was going to be a race war and the 'niggers' would lose. That, my friend, is a hick.

In 1995 I was in Corpus Christie (sp), Texas shooting a TV commercial. When were were casting extras and small parts a half dozen people trying out made jokes about not being on-frame with 'blackies.' That my friend, is the definition of 'hick.'

In 1996 I was in Memphis, Tennessee for another TV commercial. A member of the crew threw a fit because he was asked to haul equipment (the job he was hired for, mind you) while a 'black son of a bitch' got an easier job. That, my friend, is a hick.

I could go on and on and on....

To your point, there are 'hicks' all over the country. It was wrong for me to suggest otherwise. For example, Austin, Texas is a great city -- I LOVE IT. The rest of Texas I have no time for.

Here's Minnesota's 'fool for christ'.

1. I think the titles added at the front end of this video don't serve their intention. In fact, I believe they undermine the message.

2. This video proves that a non-profit was used illegally -- against IRS laws.

3. Whether, Democrat, Republican or Taliban, I abhor the use of faith for political gain.

I think that non-profits who endorse candidates - explicitly or not - should possibly lose their non-profit status.

We could start with this church. Or the NAACP. Or the Rainbow Coalition. Shall I continue?

I agree, the practice must be stopped. Dems, Reps, Taliban -- all should be punished for the abuse.

Sure, I agree with that. Problem is, it'll never happen. Can you imagine the Republicans without the Christian Coalition and such behind them? Or the Democrats without the NAACP, AARP, GLAAD, ACLU, AFL-CIO, and other alphabet movements?

Can I imagine it? Yes. Will it happen? Not until the trustfunders like Bush and Kennedy et. al. get their fat alcoholic a55e5 out of DC.

It's not that. It's that as soon as Democrats bring up getting churches out of politics, Republicans bring up getting labor unions out of it, and Democrats shut up immediately.

Neither wants to see that kind of base have to be silenced.

Yep, the Dems want the unions and the Reps want the Christian Taliban to stay in the game.

These are definitions of racist, not hicks. The guys I went to school with that chew Cope, drank Coors and drove lifted trucks to keggers, those were hicks.

Your apparent leap from "A minister violated IRS rules" to "The candidate he likes must be breaking the law, then, and everyone who endorses this candidate is approving of a criminal" doesn't really show a lot of moderation.

Oct. 15, 2004 -- Most likely voters agree with what John Kerry said about homosexuality at Wednesday's presidential debate ā€” but not with the way he said it.

Fifty-seven percent say being homosexual is the way people are, not the way they choose to be ā€” up from its level a decade ago. But likely voters by 2-1 also call it inappropriate for Kerry, when asked that question, to have noted that Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter is a lesbian. Cheney himself mentioned his daughter's sexual orientation in a campaign appearance in August.

After the debate, Cheney called himself "a pretty angry father" over Kerry's comment, and his wife called it "a cheap and tawdry political trick." Kerry responded that he was trying "to say something positive about the way strong families deal with the issue."

1983 Congressional page sex scandal
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Congressional Page sex scandal)

The 1983 Congressional Page sex scandal was a political scandal in the United States involving members of the United States House of Representatives.

On July 14, 1983 the House Ethics Committee concluded that Rep. Dan Crane (R-Ill.) and Rep. Gerry Studds (D-Mass.) had engaged in sexual relationships with minors, specifically 17-year-old congressional pages. In Crane's case, it was a 1980 relationship with a female page and in Studds's case, it was a 1973 relationship with a male page. Both representatives immediately admitted to the charges and the committee recommended reprimand for the two.

However, Rep. Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) demanded their expulsion [citation needed]. On July 20, 1983, the House voted for censure nearly unanimously[1], the first time that censure had been imposed for sexual misconduct. Crane, who subsequently apologized for his transgression, lost his bid for reelection in 1984.

Studds admitted "an error in judgment." While Studds has often been reported as having "turned his back on the House" as the House read its censure motion aloud,[2] contemporary reports made it clear that in contrast to Crane, who faced the House as the motion for his censure was read, Studds faced the Speaker who was actually reading the motion, with his back to the other members.[3] Also in contrast to Crane, who left the chamber after his censure, Studds rejoined the other members of the House after his censure was read.[3] He called a press conference with the former page, in which both stated that the young man, who was 17, consented.

Studds, who had been 36 at the time, claimed he did not break any U.S. laws in what he called a "private relationship."[4][5][6] He continued to be reelected until his retirement in 1996.[7]

That's true. However, racist behavior and attitudes does not a hick make. It can be a contributing factor, but it's possible to be a hick without being racist, as well as to be racist without being a hick.

I've heard plenty of racism (though usually dressed up with a nice education) uttered from the words of wealthy urbanites. Certainly not hicks, but certainly racist. Similarly, I know people whom would probably be considered hicks (bud-light drinking, truck driving, farm types) who were some of the coolest, most liberal people I've met (in social attitudes, if not politics).

heh. Note the lack of elected Republicans in that list.

If the entire criminal history of America is the topic, I'm quite certain that listing all the criminal Democrats in this thread would be impossible. The server doesn't have the storage capacity.

I mean, "out of wedlock children" alone would put the Democrats into the terabytes.

Then we could list all the Democrats that had abortions. That's about 40 million people.

Hilarious, yet transparently lame effort.

Come back with a list of 'elected' Republicans with a criminal history (convictions only)

And I'll post my list of elected Democrats with a criminal history (convictions only).

Go ahead. I'm waiting.

So I should post my list of convicted Democrats?

OK, I'll pull all the convicted elected Republicans from his list so we can compare.

Is this a contest of who can whip out the longest "list" ?

When both of you are done, Ill make a list of criminal white people to show that white people are inherently criminal and have no morals... I dont believe that to be the case, but this IS politics.

Oh the stupidity.

Lists of nonsense where facts matter not a whit- the domain of partisan kooks.

Stom Thrumond is on that idiotic list twice. He was a DEMOCRAT. Only a dumbass wouldn't know that. And then patethic scrapings like listing Dr. Laura and people having children out of wedlock as if that was some crime. Good grief.

Similarly, I know people whom would probably be considered hicks (bud-light drinking, truck driving, farm types) who were some of the coolest, most liberal people I've met (in social attitudes, if not politics).
It's simply stunning that anything so readily obvious needs to be pointed out to anyone above the age of 8, maybe 9.

If "list" is meant to be euphemistic, then yes.

IIRC, the majority of serial killers are white males.

Apparantly in this thread you must provide a list to prove your point and claim supremacy.
No list = no soup for you

I read about your defense of child molesters. Very sad.

Just to add to the list: Another low-ball move by a Republican - alleged misuse of a federal criminal database to gain information for a political-attack commercial against the Colorado Democratic candidate for Govenor.

Let's see. You can't read and you can't make a valid point.

Take a number and wait until there's an opening for another dimwit liberal. Seems the forum is currently booked solid for the next few years.

What's with your fascination with child molesters? You're creeping me out.

Foley hasn't touched a child, from what the evidence shows. In fact, it appears he isn't guilty of any crime.

Your favorite president Bill Clinton knows how to deal with real child molesters. He pardons them.

How Democrats treat their child molesters

We already know the Democrats' oft-rehearsed concern for female victims of sexual harassment is mere lip service. Throughout the Clinton administration, the nation was treated to a consistent river of examples that belie their claimed concern.

Whether it was Paula, Monica, Kathleen, or one of the other multiple Jane Does; whether it was Hillary Clinton's attempt to get the U.N. Conference on Women to allow child prostitution and sex rights for girls as young as age 10; for the last eight years, all women were VOBs: Victims of Bill.

And in the tradition of Clinton's presidency, he ended with one last bang against women and children, his pardoning of ex-Congressman Mel Reynolds.

While outrage abounds regarding Jesse Jackson's illicit affair and lovechild and Bill Clinton's unconscionable pardons like that of billionaire fugitive and renounced U.S. citizen Marc Rich, Reynolds' pardon may be even more appalling.

Given the way the Democrats have treated Reynolds over the years, however, it's certainly not surprising. And it's the pardon that ties Jackson and Clinton together in scandal, yet again.

While he represented inner-city Chicago, Reynolds was a good friend of the Nation of Islam's Louis Farrakhan. They were such close friends that Reynolds had no problem spouting some of Farrakhan's various anti-Semitic incantations against Jews while in office.

But all of this vicious hate couldn't help Reynolds when he helped himself to regular illegal sexual relations with a 16-year-old "campaign worker," Beverly T. Heard. A tape of an explicit June 6, 1994, phone conversation between Heard and Reynolds was exhibit number TR-1 in People v. Melvin Reynolds, a trial that ended in Reynolds' conviction. Reynolds was sentenced to several years in federal prison for this and fraud and corruption convictions; his wife and three children went on welfare in Boston.

A sampling of Reynolds' phone conversation rivals the lurid detail of Clinton's lewd behavior in the Starr Report. Various underwear choices and sex acts are graphically described by Reynolds to his youthful female target. This includes a planned threesome with a 15-year-old Catholic schoolgirl named Theresa. Awestruck with the prospect, Reynolds rhetorically asks, "Did I win the Lotto?" It's enough to make Reynolds' pardoner, Monica's boyfriend, blush.

And not only was Reynolds pardoned by Clinton, but he was hired by Rev. Jesse Jackson's Operation PUSH to decrease the number of young blacks going to prison. Given its new employee -- teen "romance" king Reynolds -- it's ironic that Jackson founded PUSH to persuade minority students to avoid, among other things, teen-age pregnancy. Until Clinton's pardon, Reynolds, like any other convicted child molester, was required to register as a sex offender in each place he lived.
