http://www.wordcount.org/main.php

The site keeps an interactive count of the 86,000-odd most common words in the English language. Now, here's a fun game: who can find the least-common word that's still in the archives, using only the search function?

As I write this, the best I can do so far is "Bellerophon", at #80589. No cheating by just using "Next Word", now...

Never mind; "Hylas" clocks in at #83059.

This is fun.

...and in an ironic twist, it seems that "redeeming" is the 31337-est word in the English language

But "Hylas" is my final entry, because I then broke down and looked straight for the last one. I must say, I'd have thought it would be much more common; certainly more so than "Hylas" at any rate.

I went for the obvious: antidisestablishmentarianism

Unfortunately (although, I suppose not quite surprisingly) it came up with: 'antidisestablishmentarianism is currently not in our archive'

The best I could get was 'inquisitively' at 85141. Which I thought was quite apt

Edit: added the bold bit because I can't spell (or edit posts apparently!)
