Hi all

I need some help with this error.

When i repair permissions i get the following.

ACL found but not expected on "private/var/root/library/preferences".
ACL found but not expected on "private/var/root/library".
ACL found but not expected on "private/var/root".

Can anyone tell me how to fix it please.

Thanks in advance.
Thank you
Thomas from the UK

In a sense, anything Disk Utility [currently] displays about ACLs is not an "error".
It's just reporting the fact that it wasn't expecting to see a particular entry there.

For all Disk Utility knows (or could know), the user put those ACLs there deliberately.
Therefore -- and rightly so -- it will not attempt to change ("fix") any ACLs.
It's just reporting them, for informational purposes.

Unless you want to study a lot about Access Control Lists, wataru's advice is sound.

(It looks like someone logged into the GUI as a root user, and some ACLs were put
on those particular folders by the OS... which is most likely quite normal).
