Is appleworks 6 carbonized. If not will Appleworks 7 be? When is Appleworks 7 coming out? I can't stand doing schoolwork in classic any longer

AppleWorks 6 is Carbon. And about AppleWorks 7, I have no idea.

Yea I just saw that article and it looks nice. Will X come with Appleworks or should I shell out the 50 and buy it?

OSX won't come with it. But iMacs or iBooks might.

I do know that the Powerbook that I just bought at the end of January didn't have AW 6. It had all of the latest firmware, updates, etc., but not AW. Weird! I'm glad I kept the full version CD I bought when AW 6 came out.

...and, yes, AW 6 is beautifully carbonized. I ran it on OS X public beta. Looks great!

AW 6 uses probably Carbon 1.0... Since then Apple has made updates and stuff. If you haven't tried running AW 6 in the Public Beta, it's very buggy becasue of the newer Carbon then it's referenced too. I hope AW 7 is Cocoa.

Apple says Carbon is the "Transition" allowing prewritten Apps to run natively in OS X. Cocoa is what Apple promotes as the true heart of OS X, so Apple should have all it's Apps written for Cocoa after the GM of OS X is released.

Yeah, the pro machines, which we pay more for and in some cases get less in return for (in some aspects), don't come with any software like that.
Only the consumer models.

That's weird! I would have thought that I'd get some cool apps with a more expensive product. I guess I'm wrong. Oh, I guess the iMovie 2 that came with the Powerbook makes up for it (even though I don't have a DV camera...and can't afford one!).
I am very satisfied with the PB...can't complain so far!

Stange that Carbon is the 'transition' but the OS X Finder went from being a Cocoa app to being rewritten in Carbon. I don't understand the thinking behind that at all.
