I returned it without paying the restocking fee because for what I paid for it I rather just get a brand new one and in glossy. I dont know why but the mbp that I had seemed like its screen was faded or washed out. I remember looking at my cousins mbp led in matte and the colors looked *uckin amazing but on this one it seemed like there was too much white* that washed out the colors... has anyone experienced a washed out mbp led matte color? Also I tried all the different color profiles and ones that people posted with a purple push and another one made in june.

*Mac Pro 2.8ghz 8 core, 16gb RAM (transintl), Raptor 10k 150gb, 23" ACD*

Everyone complains about the matte MBP's being washed out. Mine is fine, the colors are extremely vibrant, I don't understand what everyone else is seeing.

could it have been bad color calibration? Or that COMPUSA used a cleaner on the screen (to get all those fingerprints off) that marred the matte surface?

Well, consider the countless hours the display is was on without dimming. Probably with the same image background and dock position on all day (or night). A screen saver and Energy Saver is your friend.

CompUSA doesn't put much love into their demos vs say, an Apple Store. I'm glad to hear you got out of the restocking fee though.

I don't think that lcds or leds suffer from screen burn.

To the contrary -- They can, although it takes an equally long time to heal. The clearest example are some bank ATMs -- unless they cycle the LCD screen they have the welcome screen burned in.

What I was mainly getting at the premature fatigue on the backlight, which could show up as muted colors and images.

They don't, although they can suffer from "image persistence." It's a bit different as nothing is actually burned onto the screen and can be fixed (quite easily).

LCD Image Persistence

All glory to the hypnotoad.
