Seems like there's a limit as to how far they can jump but not really how long they have to wait between each one. (It sure is refreshing to not have the FTL fail every other episode like those dilithium crystal warp engines did though.)
It seems like jumping is relatively expensive, so they tend to do it only when they feel pretty sure about where they want to go or they need to get out in a big hurry. It's already been established that the humans can't track people when they jump, so the Cylons must have some fancy tech. Or maybe Cavil has a way of detecting the Final Five and that's how he's been doing it all these years.

"The podcast for Episode 417 ("Islanded in a Stream of Stars") has been released finally and around the 34" mark, Ron Moore addressed the persist rumors about Daniel by saying that not only is Daniel NOT Kara's fathe nor does he have any role in the greater mythology. In essence, when Daniel's line was eliminated by Cavil, it was completely ended and so all the theories swirling around that involve Daniel are wrong."

I think Baltar is Daniel; he's way too nutty to be a human... only the Cylons think that crazy.

So is this last episode gonna be the ubber huge episode to end them all? And a time loop ending would be so ironic!

I'm kind of annoyed by this Daniel/Starbuck/Starbuck's pops thing. That's screen time that could have been put to better use.

exactly. If Daniel doesn't in fact matter, why trick us into thinking he does? They're painting themselves into a corner with Kara's storyline otherwise.

As I said before, I bet there isn't a real difference between Cylons and humans, and Kara was resurrected by the original resurrection technology on earth.

Apparently, RDM heard enough chatter that if the final five were really final (numbers 8-12), why is 8 Sharon rather than 7? He decided to close the loop for the first 7 to be 1 through 8 minus Daniel.
He didn't realize that closing this loop opens a far larger one.
AFAIK, that's it.

That doesn't explain the Viper. Everyone theorizes the crap out of Kara, but neglects to explain the Viper.

Of course, now it seems pretty unlikely that the Final Five are models 9–13 — or that they even have numbers at all.

And, of course, the Final Five pre-date the other skin-jobs, so how come their model numbers are later ...?

I'd imagine that's because building a Viper is a lot easier than building a Kara.

Yeah, they really seem to have painted themselves into a corner. They didn't spend these 10 episodes answering many questions and now they have 2 hours to explain a whole hell of a lot.
It's also odd that there hasn't been more then a few seconds of space action this season. The show started with spectacular space battles and there hasn't been a single one so far.

Or space ninjas. I don't care. The show has needed some action.
I think if you look at it as a whole, the writers lost focus and now have to fix some things. It really feels like they were making it up as they went along. This final season has seen a whole hell of a lot of wheel spinning with very little being accomplished. It's very odd.
I patiently await the finally, but I'm worried that it's going to be a letdown.

This is why, more and more, I'm getting turned off of shows with multi-season story-arcs; they either get canceled before they finish or they end unsatisfactorily because they weren't planned ahead properly.

Interview with Ron Moore
How about fan theories over the show, like mention of a missing Cylon named Daniel? After his name was mentioned, the fans just went wild online. Did you intend for that to happen, and was he supposed to inspire this big fan-driven backstory?
You know, the Daniel thing is going to be one of the great fiascos of the show, in terms of what fans thought and what the truth was. Because Daniel was not intended to be anything more than an interesting bit of backstory in that episode. And that's how we approached it. It was just a story that Cavil and Ellen tell each other, that sort of goes to the idea of who Cavil was and how deep his resentments were, and his jealous nature - and [we wanted to] do a Cain and Abel allegory. That was all it was.
And then after the show aired. I started picking up all this stuff about how fans were obsessing about Daniel and how [people thought] Daniel was Kara's father, and he was the big surprise. I started thinking, "Oh ****, slow down people, I don't want you to really get invested."
I usually don't like to go out there and say, "Oh, that's a bad theory," because part of the enjoyment of watching the show is coming up with ideas. But this was gathering such momentum, I didn't want people to be going into the finale and really be waiting for the Daniel shoe to drop, when there's no shoe. It's one of those things where you're inside the show, [and] you look at it, and go one way. And then it's broadcast, and an audience sees it, and then they seize on this piece that you never really anticipated, and then you're sort of amazed. And you're saying, "Slow down, no - come back."
Well we listen to every single thing you put up there, because they usually do come back at some point, so I'm not surprised that name-drop took off.
Yeah, I kind of feel bad about that. It's like, "Oh man."

Yeah I'm extremely disappointed about the finale too. I think it left a lot of stuff unanswered and mis-answered and it answered a LOT of stuff I didn't want answered and that definitely needed to remain unanswered. Totally sucked. It made me hate the whole series and hate myself for watching it. If it was cancelled earlier I would have been spared and I'm glad it was cancelled when it was before it ended properly. I didn't like the multi-season arc or the stand-alone episodes either. Terrible ending most of all.
Oh wait, it hasn't been on yet! It's tomorrow! Geez! Gimme a break.

Haha I was wondering about that last post. I'm really curious how they're gonna wrap up all these story archs or if they're gonna bother trying. They've got a lot of work to do either way.

Simple. It's going to be an hour and 45 minutes of a big ol' explosion-fest. And then a miracle happens.

Serious spoilage. You've been warned.
Ron Moore tells the Wall Street Journal, "I was never tempted to make the ending very nihilistic and kill everyone, but Eddie [James Olmos] wanted to."
The L.A. Times says we learn whether BSG is our past or our future - and the answer is "all this has happened before, etc." We see what a cute couple Lee and Kara are, and Saul and Ellen are alternately resolute and frisky. Admiral Adama stages an awesome do-or-die rescue mission, and even smiles a couple times, mostly in flashbacks. Laura Roslin's opera-house vision is explained, and old treachery "paid back in full." Everybody gets to be a hero at some point, including Cavil and Boomer. There's even an explanation for Six's red dress. Oh, and there's lots of pole-dancing.
The Boston Herald calls tonight's finale "wildly uneven." The first hour is jam-packed with some of the most exciting action sequences consigned to film. "It's the dying ship [Galactica]'s finest hour." There are deaths, redemptions, reunions and one surprising suicide. And lots more flashbacks that flesh out the characters.
"One longstanding dream is finally explained." (I think the opera house thing?) And a romantic moment between Caprica Six and Baltar is interrupted by "the last two people they ever expected to see." The notes from the original BSG theme (from the 1970s) play at one of the episode's most heartbreaking moments.
But unfortunately, the Baltar-Jesus cult, with his army of female followers, "turns feverish" tonight, and it's really obnoxious. Adds the Herald's reviewer: "It's as if some assistant photocopying the script mixed in a batch of pages from an old "Touched By An Angel" episode. I won't spoil the denouement, but these last shepherds of humanity make irrational decisions that fly in the face of everything they've struggled for. I must go on record with my unhappiness regarding the resolution of the mystery surrounding Kara Thrace (Katee Sackhoff). She deserved better and so did we. Hera's grand destiny, on the other hand, seems to be much ado about hooey."
And then, just when you think the episode ought to end, it jumps forward 150,000 years (No, that's not a typo) for a "perfectly silly coda," which includes a Ron Moore cameo and is only missing an end card that says "THE END?" (So I'm guessing the rumor that the show ends with Six in New York's Times Square is true?)
Says the New York Daily News, "The finale has the crew members hurtling into an asteroid field on the outskirts of a black hole, where the army of their Cylon enemies is waiting to wipe them out in a battle that blows through a season's worth of special-effects money."
Real-life astronaut Garrett Weisman tells MSNBC he has a small role as a colonial marine in tonight's episode, which may or may not have gotten cut out. Someone throws up on him, and then he dies.
Okay, this is the end of the BSG spoilers. Safe for the rest of you to start reading again.

It was serviceable. I find that they would make that decision to give it all up more than hard to believe. The "perfectly silly coda" should have been cut.

So Kara is God, is that what happened? I'm confused...
They didn't tie her plot thread up, AT ALL. Why did she find her body? Where did the viper come from? Why didn't she remember? What the hell?

And what was the deal with Cavel just magically appearing on the deck. Oh hi, I've got the kid... let's go for some exposition, oh frak, we were double crossed but we weren't and we're all dead. Oh well. The end.
I thought that was somewhat goofy.

So let me pose a question - if they had come out and said that she was an "angel sent from God" as a definitive explanation, would that have been satisfactory? In fact, would ANY explanation have been satisfactory?
I actually like that it was left somewhat ambiguous. Not everything can be wrapped up with a nice little bow...

Loved it: thought it was well-written, well acted and wrapped up things well without being maudlin.
So:
Kara was an instrument of God, brought back from the dead for a while to finish her job.
The Six in Baltar's head really was an angel (for lack of a better word).
Liked the way they wrapped up the God stuff.
We found out that it all happened in the past in another part of the galaxy.
And, like I've said before: the series ending in Times Square proves, once again, that New York is the coolest place in the entire universe.
