Hi all. I'm pretty new to using themes (I have been using CandyBar for months, though). I use ThemeChanger 0.15 v15 and currently have the SS SimpleX theme installed. My sense is that theme utilities can have serious compatibility issues with OS updates, and if I want to keep using SimpleX, I should stick to 10.2.4 until ThemeChanger is updated. Does that sound about right?

I only lost my firewire HD icon when I updated just now. Otherwise everything's fine as far as I can tell. The reason in the past that there have been problems was because the themes were modifying critical system files, not just the Extras.rsrc file that's essential to theming.

All right, so the question is, did you guys revert to the original Aqua and remove all traces of custom icons and themes before upgrading? Or did you just do it without reverting?

Thanks for the info . . .

Thanks for all the responses. I went ahead and did it, without restoring icons or aqua theme. Everything's peachy (or should I say 'apple-ly'?).

I upgraded from .4 to .5 without any problems. The only thing I noticed is the "X" logo in the about box was replaced with the Aqua one, which I thought was kind of weird. Nothing else changed. I reapplied my theme to get the themed X back. Dunno what Apple would have changed on the X...

Exactly the same problem. SS Final Cut theme (awesome theme), ThemeChanger, and 10.2.5

I just upgraded. After I upgraded my UI was iky aqua...So, I aplied QNX Snow. All things look great accept now I can't get my menu bar items to work. i.e. modem status, clock, ichat, things like that. They are in the top right of the screen.

If there is anything that I can do to get this fixed, please let me know.

Ryan

P.S. Anyone know if there is going to be a new version of AquaFix soon? The current one warns me not to use it as I am using a newer OS than it wants to fix.

use aquafix because it does work with 10.2.5 even though it warns you. then go back and intall a different theme after you have done this. It should all work. If not then make sure you have a safe copy of Extras.rsrc somwhere so you can boot into OS 9 or something and put it back in the right folder so you can start back up again. So far I am building a new theme and I have had no problems with it. Maybe because I am building it off of the 10.2.5 extras file. penis

Yes, use Aquafix. I ran into the same problem when using the Combo update to jump straight from 10.2.0 to 10.2.4, and Aquafix solved the problem.
