If the MBP's had more than 2 USB ports I would settle for the U720 but I need both USB ports for other uses, so for me it's worth waiting for the EX720.

Be warned! Sprint does not ship the EX720 ready for use in Macs, no matter what the store clerks tell you.

If you want the EX720 to work on your Mac with fewest hassles, get it from the Mac + EVDO Experts.

I picked up a Verizon USB720 Rev. A cell adapter this weekend. All I can say is sweet! This thing blows my old pc card cell modem out of the water. It will pull 1200k down and will upload at 800k in a good signal area and it comes ready for OS X out of the box. Very nice interface with VZ Access Manager.

Just my 2 cents!

FatCity may I ask what you are paying monthly? Has Verizon come down to the $60 per month without a voice contract that Sprint has? If not I may have to stick with Sprint.

I'm not sure. I pay $59 per month but I also have my cell phone account with Verizon. I thought that's what everyone paid.

Apple now has EX720 updates for those with Intels, i.e. MBP or Macbook, as well as other EVDO cards. Wonder if I still have to activate it using Bootcamp or a Windows machine. Anyway I am thinking of picking up the EX720 at a local store today. If so I will keep you guys posted on progress.

Presently I am using my A900 Sprint phone as a modem for EVDO. It will be interesting to compare its speed with the new EX720 if it picks up a Revision "A" signal...

I activated my new Sprint EX720 in Bootcamp and WOW...this thing is stupid fast. My A900 phone used as a modem was getting about 390 Kps down and 90 up but the EX720 is getting an average of 624 down and 316 up. I just picked up the EX720 at a local Kiosk at a Mall. It was easy to activate in Bootcamp and also OSX. I didn't need to call anyone for help activating it. I can imagine what speeds it would get in a better location.

If you are considering such a card I would recommend activating it in Bootcamp and DOWNLOADING required Apple software update onto your MBP before inserting card. Too bad the update does not include Powerbooks or other non intel machines.

My last post gave speed readings in Bootcamp using Windows XP.

I just did one using OSX

EX720 = 900 dn/231 up

A900 phone as modem = 540 dn/57 up

This was 5 readings each. I took out the slowest reading of each and averaged the remaining 4 readings of each device.

At my job the average reading is 1074 down and 291 up with a peak reading of 1400 Kbps download speed, and this is inside my buildng, an I am not even near a window. This I like.
