My Eye TV cannot be launched as it crashes before launching. I have tried tracking down all prefs related, both in EyeTV and QT and then tried to remove all bits of the app from everywhere using Spotlight and command F .
Then I reloaded from the CD but that didn't work either. I have tried the device on an old computer but as it has USB1 that was a problem, although the app didn't crash.

Running 10.5.7 on a MacPro with lots of memory etc.

I cannot find any new ideas on the sites so was wondering if anyone out there can help.
Thanks ia

Try removing it from your computer and downloading a copy instead of downloading it on a disc. I haven't experienced anything like that before.

It shows as 3.0.4, from the original CD.

kylef, Haven't tried that yet. Will later today. Nothing to lose but it takes a while to chase all the bits.

That seems not to be so easy!

"Update your software
EyeTV Version 3.1.2

To check for EyeTV 3 updates and install the latest version, first launch EyeTV 3 and then select "Check for Updates" from the EyeTV menu. The software update will install automatically."
As far as I can see everything else has to be paid for. (again) As I can't launch anything I am stuck!

Does it make a difference if you disconnect the eyetv stick before launching?

What did elgato's support tell you?

1 No, no difference

Elgato support came up with a fix. All is now well.
Prompt and efficient.
Good service

Remove via downloaded software from Elgato then re-install with software from an Elgato link, adding original number.
There were instructions to discard the dmg. so I did, and not to share with anyone either-so I'd better not.

I have no idea what I did or why but it certainly worked. Now running 3.1.2.
